doos r us Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 we stick to 4/5pm 1 toss we find best time to avoid the hawk have not lost any yet had 2 from transporter sat/mon lost 2 /2 back next day/1 bust up lib 11am if your not lossing any /no injuries carry on
Guest Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 If you are meaning training the same pigeons twice per day, I am not sure of the benefits to be had from doing this ... I train my Natural pigeons myself, and when training I go twice per day. But mornings its cocks, and afternoons its hens. At the end of a training day I'm shattered .
doos r us Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 when racing starts training stops unless they wont fly for at least an hour we may send midweek if the transporter is going
ALF Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 Only training once a day myself but had most of the birds l/b's included out to hermiston gait (approx 35 mls)
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 Only training once a day myself but had most of the birds l/b's included out to hermiston gait (approx 35 mls) only train once a day as its about forty miles so would never send them there twice and hermiston gate is 35 miles if you go in circles for ten miles
peterpau Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 To me it sounds great if you like putting petrol in the car. NOT FOR ME THANKS.
me Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 depends what races you are wanting to compete iin, ts certainly a bit early for twice a day if you are wanting to compete in the longer races later in the season. Then you can train them round the loft twice a day or even one toss in the morning and an hour round the loft at night no problems
Guest WINGS 04 Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 i think if you are training twice a day you are only looking to win the early races and i would not be sending my birds to 40 miles tosses still to COLD
doos r us Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 agree wings last weeks weather flash in pan take it when its going n/w today cold
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 i think if you are training twice a day you are only looking to win the early races and i would not be sending my birds to 40 miles tosses still to COLD well saturday is going to be very cold so will you be sending them the 60 miles or will you be keeping them at home ?
doos r us Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 in my opinion we start racing here to early mays better
Guest Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 Agreed on May thing; we might just get away with it on Saturday tho, wind drops & turns South again, high of 13C. Only problem - 'light rain'.

mac1 Posted April 19, 2007 Author Report Posted April 19, 2007 some well know flyers around my area train twice a day, alot of people dont as the cost of fuel is the killer
pigeonpete Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 in my opinion we start racing here to early mays better dont see why anyone starts this early to be honest alot fairer weather in may (usually) and better weather towards end of september :-/
carl Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 I have never trained twice a day,,whats the point 2 x 20 miles,,,better off taking them on 1 x 40 mile toss if its miles you want..Just making more work in my opinion carl
Wiley Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 nah i dont like the idea,i knew one guy who used to do this his losses were great and when visiting his loft one day the pigeons were litterally rocking on the perches he was going 75 mile twice per day. Mind you this was young birds!
