jimmy white Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 whats a good middle distance family to fly 200-450 miles birds bred from pigeons that have won at these distances , irrespective of " strain",, especially bred from winning pigeons flying over similar terrain
blaz Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 birds bred from pigeons that have won at these distances , irrespective of " strain",, especially bred from winning pigeons flying over similar terrain the reson iam quoteing this is the point made on irrespetive of strain as i have one or two and dont know bred .plus it covers birds that are crossed
Guest TIMBARRA LOFTS Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 Van Loons Janssen VDB Soontjens Van der Rhees the list is endless....
Ronnie Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 i tend to think its more the method than the breed
retired Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 I am planning to try the Ron Williamson Buscharrts with these distances in mind.
Guest spin cycle Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 is there a difference in requirement north/ south. flying south they have the channel but usually sw wind...north bit shorter but flying into the wind ( mostly)

retired Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 very good pigeons m8 i know some1 who has a few done realy well with them I havent yet found a source for them but i guess the common sense approach is the man himself but that depends on price really. I know F1 has them so will take a good look at what they have also.
The Navigator Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 I am planning to try the Ron Williamson Buscharrts with these distances in mind. Yes they are good pigeons. But remember Ron did the business when he managed Bert Fletchers loft in the 80's so I would imagine he would do well with any strain.
just ask me Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 Yes they are good pigeons. But remember Ron did the business when he managed Bert Fletchers loft in the 80's so I would imagine he would do well with any strain. yes and both Ron and Bert are both genius with pigeons and brilliant lofts too it would be hard to match there management system
Guest TIMBARRA LOFTS Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 I am planning to try the Ron Williamson Buscharrts with these distances in mind. can i ask chris how many familys you house at vallance lofts?
Merlin Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 Would imagine lots of lines will do these distances, with success usually decided by the ability and know how of fancier flying them

retired Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 can i ask chris how many familys you house at vallance lofts? Yes Spencer you can ask by all means - Here at present i would think i have at least 12 families of pigeon, some in higher volumes than others (example 16 De Dobbelaers but only one Van Loon cross x Janssen) My reason for this is quite simple - If i wanted to only sell pigeons then bang its one or two familes and these will be suffice and a damn site easier to sell however i want to compete so am always looking for pigeons with performance either in racing or breeding to move what i have to another level. Some people may feel one family or even two or three are plenty and thats all they want - I have got myself into the habit of looking at the racing or breeding results, location, birdage before i look at the pedigree - Maybe this wont work but its a gamble i am more than willing to take. The strain name is a secondary source of benefit to me which is why quite often when loading birds into my Loft software i click the strain name 'Heinz 57' rather than Bischarrt, Van den Bosche or Van de rhee. Hope this anwsers your question sufficently.
