when you say you line breed what do you mean, to me line bred is father as a son,who as a son, who as a son and so on, same line.   any cock and hen paired together have a relationship to one and other(do you mean they are related). you say strains that means nothing to me, just some guys name, that particular bloke could have birds from here, there and everywhere and most on the continent do.

with strain there is so much more to consider than just a guys name.

with line breeding there is so much more to consider than one line father, son, g,son and so on.

not all fanciers on continent have birds from here there and everywhere... how do janssen bros maitain a family ask yourself?

well bert braaspening Spelling) wrote a while back that he don't but any more directs as he feels the same as me he buys jannsens off people that are winning with them now in 2009 he has not bought a direct in many a year

as regards jannens i would not advice anyone to go down the same way as breeding as them they were master breeders have read so much on them the jannsen story was great but if u really read on how they bred there birds its very complicated and unless u feel u are as good or better then the jannens stay well away

the janssens breeding plan is not complicated mate, i bred using the same principles there is a pattern , maybe some cant see it. The VDB and other great strains of the past, Bricoux,Sions, Jules Janssens, Gurnay, Stichelbout and others... thats why i hold a pedigree in high order of things after i judge the pigeon..

Last part of relevance in regards Les' post '.... if the hawk grabs one of the birds that are out ,it dont always have a meal but because it tried and failed it flys away with a big problem atached to its self and can never kill again .like i said i live of the land and know a trick or two .[AND IT IS A LEAGAL TRICK]  with no come backs  and just incase you have not realised .every time you let your birds into the big wide word you are sending them to their death [just like me ] but mine have more chance than yours of survival

Now the simple reality is thus!!! If more took note of Les, and indeed applied his proven, legal and sensible advice, there would unquestionably be a lot less (No pun intended lol) of a Hawk Problem. Simple fact. yes most whine and whinge the same ole story and do nowt. Time not only to smell the coffee I thinks, but drink a cup of it! :( :(

Or sit back and accept :o :o

what i concider not up to the mark come the end of season ,i let fly out during the winter to help combat the hawk problems ,dont waist birds that can be of great use ,think about it . ;)

I'm thinking about it like a hawk, if I can get a meal at your house once I'm coming back again and again.

So whats your point? Are you saying you kill protected species? I'd rather raise a few extra and hope they don't get the best. I've already lost 2 to hawks and have been at this less then a year.

all im saying is[ IM TOP OF THE FOOD CHAIN ]and i like eating hawks protected or not i dont give a *expletive removed* ,im here on this earth to live and enjoy my life ,not let some stupid people [that see fit to make laws when needed ,but dont alter them when they have served there purpose ]ruien my pleasure ,they get theirs doing other things, if they raced pigeons the laws would be changed ,so like i said *expletive removed* them .ATB les.

You may think you are top of the food chain, but the guy who kicks in your door and steals your toaster (or gives you a big hug, wink!) because he thinks laws are for everyone but him might be a sight higher on the food chain then you princess.

les might seem blunt in his postings about the hawks but he is 100% right, a dog worries a flock of sheep...farmer shoots the dog dead ..farmer has the law on his side...hawk takes and kills pigeons fancier has to like it or lump it...law on hawks side...is this law fair?...doesnt make a difference what you think...because the law is abound with rspb lovers .

hope them idea,s about cures for the hawks are in abundance les m8 ;):)

by humanly culling or screwing their necks as you put it, this is done with a slight pull, no screwing required, think your thinking of flat pack furniture assembly, humanly taking things into our own hands to dispose of birds is better than being eaten alive as your body goes into shock and all your systems shut down prevent your lungs to function and the case of feeling suffocated and then suffer organ failure.... all this while some other bird is ripping your guts out as the blood spills everywhere....!!!!

well sorry a quick pull is better than a hard screw or being eaten alive.  :)

Hawks actually kill very quickly with a process called napping. Not of the other dramatics that you have explained actually occur. The extent of a HAWK vs PIGEON is a bit of a struggle and then a napping, almost the equivalent to a pigeon fancier catching up his birds and ringing the neck. What I'm saying is lets keep things in context hear, wow.

And if we read les post he actually says once the hawk has taken one of his birds it doesn't take another. Let us read between the lines here, he has got a means to an end.

I'm not saying anyone has the right opinion but we can hardly take the moral high ground if we murder our beloved pigeons if they don't fly quick enough. I think Les has found quite a vacancy to keep birds alive rather than murdering them because they don't make the team.

Anyway, what do I know I'm just a novice. Have a good season chaps !

All i can say to that is,he had better be a big *expletive removed* in a armour suit and back up ,then he must  get it right first time, or he will be up sh** street  ;) im a king by the way ATB les.
