Hi again,

just got another quick querie: How can you tell how good a pigeon is by looking at it??

There seem to be alot of people on the site putting pictures up of their birds and every comment is a 'great birds mate' type reply. Can somebody please show me a picture of a bad bird and explain how to tell them apart because to be totaly honest they all look pretty tidy! And the ones which i wouldn't rate as highly seem to sell for more/be valued higher!!

Thanks in advance,

Mike.

u cant most of the best birds i own no one would have picked them out as young ones  pll do like to balance in a pigeon and all the rest tat goes with it but the two most important places where no one can see is in there head and there hart  give me a bad looking one with the two of these anyday really the only test is the basket they always look a stunner when  u put a few firsts in front of them  but for me give me brains and hart over all the eye theories wing theroies balance and the rest

Brilliant answer.Absolutely spot on.

Amazing when you go to sales and overhear many people stating that this bird, that bird is a cracker, and then pay a far inflated price just because they like the look of it.

You cannot see its brain or heart so no one on this earth can pick great pigeons from bad ones every time.

thanks but seems common sense to me only thing i would say about picking birds i do like birds to have character as in fighting for there perch or box like to see them with personality i do look to this with young birds when picking them for my widow hood team

I think the replies to peoples photo's are literally meaning " Good clean, fit looking bird in peak condition " Some like certain colours others like certain form or conformation. I agree with Just ask me that character is the most important thing in my opinion and I'm not just talking racers. Good thread though.

‘Sissi’ (she died in April 2000) was a breeding miracle.
