grizzal Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 i would say its a red slatey so would I :)
REDCHEQHEN Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 I could tell a porkie pie and agree with all the others - but I don't know a lovely looking youngster whatever the colour - as is the nest mate
fletch Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 thats what my mate said who has lent here to me (yellow)
Roland Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 Now what, if any, is the difference between a Dun and a Shallie. Personally I believe they are the same, and depends where you live / was taught.
Guest beautyhomer Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 out of mealy hen and a black cock Ash Red Spread The youngster has got the ash red colour gene from the hen and the colour modifying gene spread (makes blue pigeons black) from the cock. If you pair this bird to a blue hen you will breed blacks. Yes this youngster is a cock.

edthekid Posted April 12, 2009 Author Report Posted April 12, 2009 this is nest mate....not as in pic1..so i gather both are cocks..what if this paired to a whit hen......what do you get mealys and grizzles?
Guest beautyhomer Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 Maybe its just the photo but that second one does not look red.If it is the same colour as the first one then yes it will be a cock if you are sure of the parentage.
edthekid Posted April 12, 2009 Author Report Posted April 12, 2009 yes mate both same colour must be photo.....when they were feathering...i thought they would be barless mealys for some reason
Guest Doade Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 Glassfeather is your man he knows everything about pigeons :-/
pjc Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 yes mate both same colour must be photo.....when they were feathering...i thought they would be barless mealys for some reason They are barless mealy's in race bird terms!
Guest beautyhomer Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 yes mate both same colour must be photo.....when they were feathering...i thought they would be barless mealys for some reason Had this discussion on here before. You are right that they look like barless mealys but genetically they are different. The give away is the sire being a black. As I posted before, you will be able to breed blacks from them BUT you will never breed a barless blue.
valteng Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 nice colors.. I agree also to other... it is a slate...
