Sadly we've had the nasty experience of a stoat in the loft this week which has wiped out 5 pigeons.  We have traps set in the loft but not yet caught anything.  Does anyone have any good bait tricks to help us catch the blighter?  Thanks in advance

The other birds have been taken out.  Dont know how it got in and until get some time down the loft in the daylight this weekend haven't had chance to throughly look.  There's nothing obvious; know they can get in through something as small as a knot in the wood of the loft.

stoats like rats can smell humans on the traps and its been proven that they can.

handle traps with the see through gloves...although there may be the odd one that will throw its life away lol

animals notice changes so try to leave a trap un set with bait...then if bait is being taken set it with bait.

young dead chicks are good to bait.

When you get it in the  trap set trap again and leave dead stoat next to it !! it`s mate will come looking for it .

Get an electric fence energizer. You can get solar powered or small battery operated ones now. Run a polywire around the bottom of loft. One kick from this and they wont be back. Just switch off when birds are out.

how were the birds killed was the back of the neck ripped out or head taken off i had a weasel get in my stock loft it only ripped the back of the neck out so it could drink the blood luckily it only got one bird i believe it got in through the dowel front since then it has been wired up where all dowels are and air gap under roof also the vent holes at the back at the top so far no more problems .
