chris h Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 Potasium Permanganate. ie.Condis Crystals. what do they do?
Wiley Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 what do they do? get all bugs of them, years ago was also used as a respiratory treatment if a pigeon had respiratory, the pigeon fancier would hold the birds head under water till it gasped for breath, then take its head back out. would do this for number of days then it would be gone. I wouldnt use this method but alot of the old school did. very good for the baths tho and lasts for ever 45p and is about a pinch used brillant stuff
greenlands Posted February 1, 2009 Author Report Posted February 1, 2009 Hi Chris, it's basically a mild disinfectant, anti fungal, but also keeps the birds lice free,a lot of gardeners use it when growing tomatoes,i think they use it to keep fungal probs away, not too sure on that though,i've used it for some 50 + years.Might be better things on the market but they won't be cheaper. One thing for sure if you have any problems with your feet ,athletes foot ,stinking.I'll guarantee this stuff WILL stop it. Lindsay.

Lindsay. agree with you entirely greenlands,, also good for day after the race bath, to help heal any pecks or light knocks or grazing the bird may have seccumed to during the lib and race ,, cheap as chips ;D
greenlands Posted February 2, 2009 Author Report Posted February 2, 2009 how much do you put per liter Difficult to explain without going over the top,to a litre 10/12 crystals if that much.I generally go by the bucket ,the pigeon bath holds about 3 buckets so a good pinch on the end of a tea spoon.Bath's about 2inch deep i like it so i can just see the bottom and no more.Sorry if that's vague but it takes very little.Lindsay
Guest SPORTKA Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 could you tell me were you buy it from please, sounds like good stuff, thanks in advance Chris.
Wiley Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 could you tell me were you buy it from please, sounds like good stuff, thanks in advance Chris. can buy it at a chemist or you could have bought it at blackpol
jimmy white Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 can buy it at a chemist or you could have bought it at blackpol cheaper in the chemist,, if you can get it now, many dont stock it now,, im afraid i go over the score compared to green lands ;D i like the bath as deep as poss, and even warm ;D about 4 inches i feel they get a really good dip ;D i think , like greenlands , probably just use my imagination , or experience if you like ;D but can put sufficient condies in the bath untill a certain colour , it doesnt take much , just a dozen or so crystals will make the water nice and purple where you can just see the bottom of the bath
jimmy white Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 Love the allsortment colours you like it roly ;D ;D ;D,, purple , white and green ;D ;D ;D never gave that a thought ;D ;D ;D
