Diamond dave Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 Hi All - Does anyone out there fly the Van Hee strain of pigeons - Can anyone tell me if they are sprint, middle or distance birds? D.D.
sapper756 Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 A direct son of Honeymans Dream, 1st SNFC Rennes Vanhee
jimmy white Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 was falla hill superstar van-hee,? , [winner of rennes snfc few years ago],, maybe getting my wires crossed ,but was under that opinion, anyway the van hees seem to excell at the distance
Guest Owen Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 A pigeon called Blue Mist, a Van Hee, owned by Mr Lyndon Parker of Garndiffaith, Gwent, won the Lerwick Open three times. I think he went down in terrible conditions on the fourth attempt. I am pretty sure he won a couple of Thurso races along the way and found time to sire sons that went on to win at the distance. I think that there was Louella Van Hee on one side of the family. Some sprinter! At one time Mr Parker raced the programme, winning all the way, with 5 cocks bred this way. Brilliant pigeons, brilliant Fancier. I am also pretty sure that a Mr John Rawlings, a nieghbour now retired, had the same blood and also won at the distance repeatedly with them. Point of note, they were all blues. I hope this helps Owen
Back garden fancier Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 I fly louella Van Hees, crossed with Flor Engels. My best sprinter is a van hee! They are supposed to be distance birds, but it's how you prepare them that counts? Louella probably have the largest pure stock available, they are now quite inbred so make a good cross.
Robert Hyde Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 Van-hees basic foundation are, janssen , stichelbaut, van-der-espt.They are an all purpose family of pigeons, and should win at all distances. The reds come from the Van-der-espts, and the dark ones are Stichelbaut.
peterpau Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 was falla hill superstar van-hee,? , [winner of rennes snfc few years ago],, maybe getting my wires crossed ,but was under that opinion, anyway the van hees seem to excell at the distance Your not wrong mate. My mate in our club has had the van hees for many years and he is always in the mix at any distance.
