dwh Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 Hi All Lets say a novice approach you asking for advice. What is the 2 moste important things you would tell him to look out for / do when starting as novice/newby. Let limit (if you want) the advice to two items per member, and try not to repeat what was already said. Lets then see if we can 'agree to disagree' on the maybe 10 most important things to look out for/do, and perhaps we would be 'indirectly' reminding ourself of things we know, but forgot. My advice would be: 1-Never over-populate your loft 2-Write down day-by-day what you do with birds, and also what you give them, thus keep record. 1. ask advice 2. fly natural 1st 2 years ( helps you learn there habits)

Guest mick bowler Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 1) keep the loft dry and well ventilated, but with no draughts. 2) Set you alarm clock for at least an hour earlier than usual, and spend that hour in the loft with the birds (birds flourish on this hour with you more than any other hour in the day). If you cannot do it then i hope your happy to just compete (and not win), or buy a set of golf clubs.

peter dempsey Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 get yourself an overalls and a good mask and never never ever go into the loft without them fitting snugly over you if only I had been told this 30 odd years ago regards peter

Guest cloudview Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 1 try and buy local area ie region from a consistant loft , not a 2 season wonder. 2 medicate only if you have to ,this will pay in the long run, keep it simple and natural. 3 dont get involved with the latest fashion craze, usually a lot of hype over nothing. 4 look in the mirror , dont keep blaming the birds for your failures. 5 dont thrash them every where , they ,re birds not machines . all the rest is common sense really .
Guest BRYANBROCK Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 1 happy birds win races > > > > > 2 unhappy birds dont :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/
gulkie Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 1] choose what distance u want to fly [short/middle/distance] 2]learn the art of feeding.to me the most important. : ;)
Ricorico Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 Selection is the main target for a novice, buy some birds from a good familly of flyers an then fly them hardly. My advise is to buy birds from two diferent good family, it gonna be easy for you to have results with yungsters from them. Dan( Romania)
