old stocking and leg splints healing cream suda creme or something similar iodine to steralize , and a isolation cage to use for a hospital box ;) ice cubes in a small glass of water are good for birds legs when badly bruised or broken to keep leg swelling too much and to turn ring as often as possible so it keeps it's circulation  :)

yes Denny ,normal cotton and needle are fine to stitch up a wound ,unless you have access to medical sutures (which are slightly easier to use)              andy.

Interesting collection.  :)  One big omission.  :) An extra pair of hands or two.  :)

One to hold the patient, one to do the work, and one 'gofor'  all the stuff you suddenly find you need.  ;)

Vetenary wound powder, surgical spirits, Iodine, super glue. stitching needle and thread and herbal spray that really stinks but works wonders

This bird recovered and healed after a hawk attack by just using the herbal spray

Germaline, eyebrow tweezers for pulling out feathers, old clean socks with toes cut out, sellotape, needle and cotton, scalpel for cutting away dead skin, plaster of paris strips from boots, iodine, lollypop sticks,'make good splints. scissors.

Have a small syringe with a rubber tube, for young squekers which need to be fed.

The rubber tubing goes down into the crop (less messy).

Also when you have to sow the crop area up i use Germalene product called new skin (its like nail varnish and heals up any holes.

I've had birds return after hitting wires, and even though water drained from the wound as they were drinking I left them to fend for themselves. The only treatment was to bathe the wound in mild anti septic and they went on to make a full recovery. Pigeons are very hardy and appear to tolerate easily what in humans would be life threatening injuries.
