wings Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 Hi wondering what members think the best worm tablets are, and whether there is one that does all types of worms.
wings Posted October 25, 2009 Author Report Posted October 25, 2009 has your birds got worms Don't think so but i i think that all birds will pick up some kind of internal parasite during the season and was just trying to prevent any problems later on when i pair the birds up.
wings Posted October 25, 2009 Author Report Posted October 25, 2009 in the book Pigeons and their economical health care on page 255 treatment schedule it recomends that you treat for worm at the biggining of the raceing season and at the end, i haven't treated earlier because they have been going through the moult
Guest Owen Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 Moxidectin is a liquid wormer. It is about the best I know of. If your birds have hair worm you need to check them about 4 or 5 days after treatment. Hairworm takes a lot of shifting and you will find that you may have to treat your birds anything up to 3 times to get them completely clear. Worse still, the hairworm will cause a lot of damage to the gut wall so you can not expect much from your birds when they have been infested. Round worm is not nearly as bad to get rid of, and if they have the worm you will see the dead worm in their droppings after treatment. Horrible.

Guest Owen Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 Aldi usually have good microscope kits for sale every Autumn. They usually sell for about 40:00. You will have to be quick to get one because the Students are on to it and they fly off the shelves. bigda is right. They are worth every penny and they will save you a lot of trouble trying to guess at the possible disease problems your birds may have. It beats treat blindly.
