Guest Freebird Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 Try and get a body builder to do a marathon - not. It's all show and no action I'm afraid. Yer doos will do better on a good balanced, nutritious diet and plenty natural excersise. We will never improve on nature, only cause problems for the birds and they have enough of those to contend with at the moment. Get to know your birds and don't try any shortcuts I think.

Guest Jargre- Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 VYDEX ANIMAL HEALTH. CREATINEP Creatine delivery system for pigeons The finest quality Creatine in pure form is administered by adding 5gms to 500gms of food (500gms is approximately 18ozs) Creatine must be given daily for the full benefits to be gained. dosent say it will damage the pigeons in anyway. Dont think they would sell so much of it if it did damage kidneys etc :)It doesn't say it will damage humans either but it can and will if not taken properly. My family have run a health food company for the past 30 years and my brother was one of the first ever to put this stuff on the shelves donkeys years ago, its good if used correctly in humans but in pigeons its crap because it goes through their system far too fast as their digestive systems are ten times faster than humans. Do some homework, you'll find I'm right. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=the+dangers+of+creatine&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=
Guest portmuffins Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 I have used body building protein on pigeons for showing and raceing with good rsult but when given protein to raceing pigeons you will have to work them hard to be of any use also give them VIT B12
Guest challengerlofts Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 I have read it before somewhere. Belgian Fancier been using illegal drugs. Just wonder if he's a Top Flyer & been selling Pigeons here in UK.

Wydex does prescribe a dosage so should be ok if carried out at that dose Creatine Side Effects Are there any dangers of creatine you need to be aware of? Many athletes wonder if there are creatine side effects that they should be concerned with, and if there are any dangers of creatine usage on a regular basis. Since it is such a popular sports supplement, there have been more tests performed on creatine than any other performance enhancer on the market. Fortunately, most of these studies have shown that the side effects of creatine are minimal, and should not be a cause of major concern. However, as with most health supplements you will probably experience creatine side effects if you do not adhere to recommended dosages.

The reason why it shouldn't be used in pigeons is humans know to take extra water because it tells them to on the tubs and that can turn the tap on, pigeons to my knowledge can't read nor do they realize they need to take on board extra water. Creatine causes dehydration and then cramps, if this happens in the middle of a race the bird is going down fast and ain't getting back up. :-/
Guest stb- Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 Any way back on topic creatine is a performance enhancer, not really a body building block the same as protein and amino acids
just ask me Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 The reason why it shouldn't be used in pigeons is humans know to take extra water because it tells them to on the tubs and that can turn the tap on, pigeons to my knowledge can't read nor do they realize they need to take on board extra water. Guest mick bowler Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 Creative wont work for pigeons as it has a far too high GI. Goes through them like sh** through a sieve and causes kidney damage at the same time. Stay away at all costs. Not all of it wont: http://www.racingpigeonmall.com/loft/products/creatine-intro.html Should'nt cause cramp either as it stops lactic acid build up (the cause of cramp!)
pigeonpete Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 Creatine is used by both body builders and sold for pigeons - always wondered if it was performance enhancing. it didnt enhance mines performance!! ;D ;D still last!! :-)
bullcock Posted March 8, 2010 Author Report Posted March 8, 2010 We tried creatine one year with the young birds a few years back and we had a great young bird season, the following year we never used it and had an even better season? :-/ I think people are too quick to think a product was responsible for better results when it might have had nothing to do with it.

Phoned vydex co today and said they had never heard of this before and it is desighned to stop cramp by blocking lactic acid build up . I wuld think they would know best on this one . seems to be a load of cramp saying it does the opposite :-/
