Q11. What about sales of birds?

A. Sales of birds from single sources (such as dispersal sales from a single pigeon loft), direct sales and sales from pet shops will still be permitted. Sales from exhibitions, shows, fairs or other gatherings will not be allowed.

Have you more info on the Panorama programme, Jimmy, is it a report or a panel & audience type of thing?

Scotland - ban on shows etc

News item on Scottish Executive website, relevant paragraph below.

Gatherings of other birds including poultry, waterfowl, pigeons and exotic species, such as parrots, are considered to be higher risk. Licences for these will not at present be issued. The licence conditions will be kept under review and higher risk events may be permitted once further biosecurity guidance has been agreed.

There's meant to be a big show on in Dublin over 7 -8 November.

Does any one know what the score is there, as son and I are supposed to be judging, and unfortunately we have no contact numbers !!

Cheers folks

Can't see there being a 'show' as such although due to primary investment Blackpool as an event will probably go ahead.

I would doubt that there will be pigeons for sale either.

This is not pigeon related, but I was going to build a chicken coop for the rooster that is living in my bathroom, I am in the US. Do you think I should wait for the flu to settle down before starting the coop and putting the bird outside?

I dont want him to get sick and I also dont want anyone panicing about having a chicken close and having him taken or killed for testing.

Thanks speedbird, I think I will wait and keep him inside.  I just wish that since hes in the bathroom all day that he would learn to use the toilet!

Lucky we have 2 bathrooms. It is funny to see the look we get from guests when we explain why they cant use the upstairs bathroom though.

This whole flu issue is a mess.. I hope they find a way to set it right soon.

the cost the rpra have had to pay to rent the wintergardens will be to high for them to pull the plug completley they will stil lget the fee fro mthe traders and im not sure if the winter gardens takes the entrance fee and then splits it? not sure on that one, but all im getting at is the rpra (which is us the members) cant afford to cancel as it would cost us thousands.

I wouldn't bet on the Australian / Canadian bird flu accord lasting any longer than it took the ink to dry on the agreement. Note that the date was 26th October, and as recently as 3rd November, avian flu (type unconfirmed) has been confirmed in 'hundreds' of wild birds in two Canadian provinces. Think Gordon Chalmers will be busy soon on the home front.

Reckon it should be just the hens, Silv.  ;D

I'm all for parties, but lets face it, the gals just get in the road of the drink.  ;D  ;D

I'm sure I'll regret this.  :B
