aye ready Posted December 27, 2009 Report Posted December 27, 2009 has any of the members come across this before,i have young cock who always appears to be starving when the other 27 birds are quite content on whati give them about one an a half ounces per day in one feed per day, they are fed in the hopper and he's always going mental diving in and out of different spaces in the hopper, ithink this could be his problem he's that dimwitted if he would stay in the one spot he would get get his share of the feed but he does that much darting about the other birds are eating the most of his share (never make a doo me thinks) has anyone ever had a bird like this thats went on to score
Guest IB Posted December 27, 2009 Report Posted December 27, 2009 Hi Martin, any young birds that I've had acting like that have been the odd one fresh from the nest box that I have put in a section with older birds. I've found they have been eating only small stuff from the nest box gallipot, and although they try to stick to that small stuff at the hopper, they don't eat quick enough - the older birds have it polished off before they can get to it. My latest was a gift latebred cock, looks like the hen had been keeping him topped-up in his old loft - he couldn't hold his own at the hopper with my hens. I did usual, fed him seperate in corridor, a gallipot with no smalls in it, till he was eating everything put down to him. He's now there at the feeder with the rest of the cocks, batting everybody else out the way.

aye ready Posted December 27, 2009 Author Report Posted December 27, 2009 I wouldnt be happy with that seems like a bit of a dafty to me , is he ok healthwise??? as i said in my original post a bit dimwitted healthwise perfect but always hungry, will hold onto him as an experiment and see how he goes when i start feeding the round about cocks in their boxes if he starts jumping into other boxes looking for food then i'm afraid there will only be one outcome

I will not be breeding from her just racing, don't like it at all.
