salmonella , as anyone can tell u, has similar symptoms .

one sign of para is black stringy poop in water like puddles. this is infact brought on by the kidneys affected., but there are reports that some are experiencing similar symptoms to it but without the so called head twisting ...maybe a new strain developing?

From DERFA website, highlighted a few species in red

The table below lists viruses received from EU countries in 2007, however they were not

necessarily isolated during this time period and a small number of viruses may have originated in

2006. The figures in this table do not account for any detection of m gene positives that did not

yield haemagglutination viruses after virus isolation.

I think people get 'para' mixed up

paratyphoid (bacterial)

paramyxovirus (virus)

salmonella is another name for paratyphoid.

both these as i stated show similar symptoms, ...and funny how both start with the word para.

I think you may be wrong there

Naw one starts with Para and the other with Salmo  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Posted this on another thread on paramyxo:

I have always understood paramyxo to be a flu-type  virus affecting birds. Dr Erhardt Kaleta (who advises the German Homing Union) calls it 'atypical bird flu'. It is  actually a family of viruses that affects animals - and humans, and can cause mumps, measles and a type of flu in us too. It is a respiratory illness, and can gain access to the nervous system by that route, as can be seen in Chapter 13 (II) at this link..

I've been puzzled by the 'para' bit too. As a far as I know it has at least two different meanings: (1) like, as in a flu-like illness. and (2) beside, as in an illness following in the footsteps of, or in addition to another illness. Noticed in early AI outbreaks in Europe, some areas also got hit by Newcastle Disease afterwards.

i must admit i'm a bit confused. i thought we vaccinated against newcastle disease which is the 'everyday' name for paramixovirus. is this right ?

As far as I know Newcastle disease is a different strain from paramyxo

Maybe it has "para" in front of it because it can be airborne "parachute" "paratrooper"  just a wild guess :-/

Could come from the Greek meaning Par(a)- beside, near (Para) parallel, parameter

Or even Parapraxis or Freudian Slip (Fehlleistung) is an error in speech, memory, or physical action that is believed to be caused by the unconscious mind.  :) :) :)
