OLDYELLOW Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 I wouldn't bother - its cheaper getting a vet to do it - and have a proper job done aye and your vet can give specific treatment for infections ectra and tell you what is effective a test in itself is only half of the remedy, most swabs for microplasma need to be grown on petri dishes , vets that specialise are worth there weight in gold
DOVEScot Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 I wouldn't bother - its cheaper getting a vet to do it - and have a proper job done It would be good if all vet's were up on avian treatment but they are not, some of these testing centres are very good, again not all :-/
REDCHEQHEN Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 That one on e-bay is an amateur trying to make some money and if you haven't got a microscope - how are you going to know he's not pulling a fast one
DOVEScot Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 That one on e-bay is an amateur trying to make some money and if you haven't got a microscope - how are you going to know he's not pulling a fast one That may be true but not all vets are good and not all testing stations are bad, time and feedback normally sorts them out from the rest, do you not think vets are capable of pulling fast ones as well :-/ Although reading it more in this case you may be right
REDCHEQHEN Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 He has no feed back for testing droppings

However i have heard of bad vets there the ones that usualy dont specialise in avian .
DOVEScot Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 He has no feed back for testing droppings Like I said you are probably right, if you look at his other items for sale he looks a bit suspect but you never know :-/

Totally agree, I had a huge problem 3 years ago and would always use an Avian vet, luckily I am equally between Perth and Edinburgh where they have both DEFRA and good avian vets
