pigeonman007 Posted May 2, 2009 Report Posted May 2, 2009 Hi all Does a grey film over the eye = blindness or infection of some sort? My mate bought some ybs and on checking them over one of the ybs has a grey flm over 1 eye. He eats fine and looks healthy enough but if he is facing you with the dodgy eye and you move your hand towards him the bird doesnt move or react in anyway. Whereas he does when facing you with the good eye.

grizzal Posted May 2, 2009 Report Posted May 2, 2009 sounds to me as it may be blind in that eye m8,had it myself one year and what u have said it is what mine looked like
pigeonman007 Posted May 2, 2009 Author Report Posted May 2, 2009 He's a bit annoyed about it as you can imagine having only just started up and bought his first batch of ybs. He was going to race the ybs he has just bought. Would the bird be ok for racing or to taxing for him?

pigeonman007 Posted May 2, 2009 Author Report Posted May 2, 2009 Thought it prob would be. Have told him he should seek a refund or partial refund from the place he got the bird from

greenlands Posted May 2, 2009 Report Posted May 2, 2009 No disrespect but it will never be any good as a racer and may even breed like for like, unlees it's been picked in the eye when very young.Ask for an exchange.Lindsay

Guest IB Posted May 2, 2009 Report Posted May 2, 2009 They're hard enough to race with 2 eyes and 2 wings. Cloudy film over the eye sounds like infection. You certainly want to return this bird, and if the others came from the same source, have a good close look over them all and if there's the slightest doubt over any of the others, return them all, and buy elsewhere..
THE FIFER Posted May 2, 2009 Report Posted May 2, 2009 does a pigeon not have an inner eye lid, could it not be this stuck or something,
Guest bigda Posted May 2, 2009 Report Posted May 2, 2009 yep the have a third eye lid, but if its clear as they say its blind, maybe by a peck exchange it if you can or nap it, keeping it as a pet, will only annoy you should it not return latter, as its easy meat for the hawk, and if you encourage the feeding of the hawk once it will not stop looking for another free meal, and could prevent you from winning a race, should it show its self at the said time when the birds return from a race :-/
