Roland Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 Many still do .... a darn site better than Electro's and that's for sure.... Indeed Mollasses actually do good and help a mite.
Skull Lofts Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 one tablespoon to 4 pints night before basketing for me Hi Oldyellow How do you prepare the mixture? First time i hear about giving MOLASSES, seems like we/I are behind in South Africa! What is the reason for giving it? Skull
OLDYELLOW Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 one tablespon per 4 pints of water , just disolve one tablespoon of molases in hot water then cool down and top up with more water to four pints ( this is usual size of a medium drinker ) , old hands used to use it as a natural wormer cant say i have tried to worm pigeons in this way but then again my birds havent got worms so it may work , mollasses is basicaly unrefined sugar in a more natural state , and sugar = glugose = energy so can give your birds a boost prior to racing and top up with pigeon tea after racing
Guest Owen Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 Molases has been used as the basis of animal feeding blocks for years. The animals that are fed this way love it and thrive on it. I have not used it much with pigeons, but I am sure that it will do nothing but good.

Guest phillip Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 Good day . I use Molasses prior to races . Day of basketing whole day 2spoons with 4litres water . I also mix spoon concentrated Lemon juice in same mixture . Helps for airways . Using high grade fit for human consumption from our local petfeed supplier . If not available , I use dark brown sugar as a substitute . On return from race I have Electrolites ready in the Loft .
