if the members had a choice to have a youngster for stock out of a national winner which would they choose the cock or the hen purely for breeding with no bull system

Nice question !!

In earlier years an old fancier friend told me to keep an eye on my hens,as he believed that was where a lofts' strength was.....so that's where my choice would lie.

i was told the same this old boy would always take the hen i'm sure he said it was something to do with the genes

all would depend on what i intended to do with it  , if wanting to bull your hens with one cock id buy the cock ;) , but id want to know if the parents were in a single flight so parentage could be guarenteed firstly , as they say mothers baby daddys maybe  ;)

i would first think what i wanted to pair to it before i made my choice

If a cock had won the National I would take then hen.

 

If a hen had won the National I would take the cock.

 

Always found that the best cocks bred us good hens and vice versa
