dal2 Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 This year I seem to have one big youngster and one small youngster in the nest - Does anyone know the cause of this? Thanks This has appeared quite often this year. Perhaps first egg being sat tight cause of cold weather.
greenlands Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 This has happened to me twice this year??The first time I gave the youngen a chance but it looks like a bin job the 2nd lasted three days and I binned it.Not saying that was the right thing to do but It's bad enough trying to get good youngens out of well reared stuff. Lindsay.
blackdog Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 This year I seem to have one big youngster and one small youngster in the nest - Does anyone know the cause of this? Thanks what i do mate is once you have them rung switch the young about in different nests put 2 small together, 2 big together then they will get the same amount of food otherwise the big young will get most of the food
ally mac Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 The last couple of years I had a few at different sizes but this year none. So far anyway. Ive decided just to let the birds get on with it, when I was less experienced I think i was maybe getting to involved and disrupting the birds. Best hatch Ive ever had despite the colder weather. Al.
