Think young birds and young children are much the same over their food: if your mix has lots of small stuff in it, its 'sweeties', and the birds will stuff themselves with that and probably leave the beans peas etc till last, or just leave them.

Remember that these 'left' grains are important for protein and fibre.

and like small children they will clear the plate if they are hungry enough.

A good friend of mine has been feeding his y/b's horse beans (about twice the size of tic beans some of them ) and it has not stopped his y/b's from winning that's for sure so i would'nt be worried about them leaving the bigger stuff just cut back on the feeding a little bit

cut back on the amount you feed and they will eat what is put down as they are only what they really like

if you are a bad feeder of pigeons thats your warning that you are over feeding its the best way to correct over feeding if there is feeding left they get nothing till they eat everything and cut down next time till you get the right amount

there are young and old birds (fantails)  in the one loft and the adult birds eat the bigger seeds i just want to make sure the younger birds are getting feed at the end of feeding about 3 minutes theres nothing left

That's always a problem with birds of different ages, the older ones gobble everything up leaving the younger ones with next to nothing. I usually feed each group seperately until they are all 'up to the same speed' when they eat together.

Wheat, barley etc. means that they may well have to overeat to get all their' needs from the like. So lots of droppings. Barley is also a blood purifyer. Tic beans if you can get any. - None this way.

Horse beans are great and another flyer this way excelled just feeding them.

So Tic Beans (25% protein) Wheat and Barley. Have a deckers if any basic thing is short. Legumes are naturually the best, and a natural alround feed.
