Guest ljb107 Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 I mix some of my chicken pellets with the pigeons food. The chicks grow twice as fast on it.
Guest IB Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 I don't think any poultry pellets contain antibiotics any more! They used to but I think you will find that putting antibiotics in them was outlawed, check the ingredients on the bag and that will tell you. I tried G10 last year but wouldn't bother again. Phil Think you'll find that there are certain antibiotics still approved as additives to poultry feed: like the agents that promotes all the growth and the anticoccistat. Like yourself tried G10s (for a year) as an additive. Think it just creates a weight problem for my pigeons so my trial ended February, and won't be feeding them or any other pellet again.
Ian Gill Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 If you use turkey finisher pellets they are antibiotic free as these are fed to the turkeys for a couple of weeks before slaughter
schyphos Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 We add Turkey layers pellets to all our mixes. The ones we use contain no antibiotic. We normally add 5-10% depending on which mix.We have had no adverse affects using the pellets and our birds thrive, both breeding and racing on them. Guest kev d Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 whats the difference between growers and layers pelletts
Guest ljb107 Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 growers have high protien and things for the immune system for chicks and layers are to encouage egg production in hens
white logan Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 turkey pellets have steroids and antibiotics in them so it should help with the growth of the young
Guest ljb107 Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 turkey pellets have antibiotics for black head in them - use growers pellets
tskyes Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 I USED LAYERS PELLETS 4 A COUPLE OF SEASONS BUT I NOW FEED BEST ALL ROUNDER (3 SCOOPS) WITH GROATS (1 SCOOP) AND IN MY OPINION IS AN EXCELLENT BREEDING MIX.
mac1 Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 you get two different kind of turkey pellets
Guest ljb107 Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 if i had turkeys i would get the pellets with the blackhead stuff in - you would be stupid not to.
Guest kev d Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 if your feeding any kind of pellets . ie growers or layers or even pellets made for pigeons can you feed to much of them what is the recomended amount
mackems Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 i use 10% layers pellets 20% g10,s the rest good breeding mix dont use pellets during racing 8) 8)
andrecrock Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 I have been using layers pellets for about six years,on its own you might find the droppings is a bit loose,i mix mine with barley for the hens and peas for young birds. You will find that because the pellets contain so much vitamins and minerals the birds will have less minerals and more grit. The other thing is ,the pellets contain a certain % of moisture so i does pass Through the bird quicker and weightwise you might end up feeding a bit more.In my area its about £6.25 per 20kgs.I might chance to growers pellets or turkey pellets this year.Hope this helps......
