Best stock cock lost

When cleaning out this morning my best bloody cock flew out over my head  :o He is sitting eggs and is still in the area sitting on a roof down the road, although he is unbroken to the loft and has always been a prisoner.

What is the best thing to do?

pray mate, theres not a lot you can do.

Hes either gonna come back or he wont. one thing i would always do is have a second door system inside the loft if you have prisoner stock, that way you never have a problem with that happening. I have been there myself mate and it aint good when it happens but you soon learn to make sure it doesnt happen again.

Is he the father of the bird in the picture you posted.

Let a team of hens out, preferably hens that are not paired, as they will be keen on the cock, and hopefully attract him to the loft, good luck m8 ;)

The thing thats pissed me off is i do have 2 doors :o I left them both open though and he flew off out.

Yes he is the father to the bird i posted. What would you do with his hen? Pair the son to him? Ive got 3 cocks and a hen off him already?

Yes the bird is transferred to me, but no phone ring on him. There is only 1 pigeon guy near me and like i say he keeps street peckers, all sorts so if he goes anywhere it will be there.

i had one in the heavy winds when my trap blew of

and a few got out

all stock never been out

and in the end i lost 1 out of 8 if he is around let the birds out even if not in sight

when he sees them he might come back mate

Don't give up so soon.  ;) This is the first time  in his life this bird has been out in the wide world - would you come back in an hour?

Good sign that he sat on the roof for a while, he's already got an 'invisible' fix on where he lives, now he has a visual memory to go with it.

Let the birds stay out, and if they don't bring him down before nightfall, get them back out first light tomorrow.

Good luck.

move the eggs as said and keep a eye out for him if he fails to turn up mate the young birds together then keep the better ones mating him to his mother will move you towards the mothers genes and futher from the cock birds

in the mean time ask the guy yo ugot the cock from for a brother or close relly

this way you have somewhere for the sibling mating s to be paired

hope he turns up though i lost a bird for over a month and one day he was on my next door neighbours shed
