owen101 Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 i use to go to this mans house and my dad use to have a few of his pigeons when we lived in luton
blaz Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 it will be hard to get the best sprint middle distance birds from someone in your area unless you know them. try look at fed results from a different fed to you maybe a fed on your boundary .look and pick out the three or four names that keep coming up week in week out. then try them for yb,s by phone it should not be to hard to get phone numbers from club secretary. also ask which strains they race and where did the original parents or grand parents come from . some will help some will not don,t be put off if at 1st you get brushed of quick style.as for exact strains we all have slightly different opinions .most good strains their name will keep coming up. van loons/ staff van reets /busshartes to name only 3 . another way watch the forum this season see who is doing the winning then ask them a few questions about strain parents ect sure they will help

BLACK W F Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 for years guys in the unc raced the bushys and plenty said only sprinters m/dist birds but the big secret was feeding and push them further once they slowed down just look at their mak up no wonder they where winning out to borgues ;)
blaz Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 good point well taken best birds tend to be off m8s i would only give off my best to a mate in my fed. if they are no competition to me then i will give the best i can and have done.

BLACK W F Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 THERE FULL O DISTANCE LINES ANYWAY ALEN exactly they just waited untill they matured and the younger doos beating them changed there feeding bingo look at the heremans out and out sprinters my mate was 1-2-3 fed melun near 500mls they got desmet and catryse in them and he had many great turns with them its knowing when to push them out and feeding
kingbilly2 Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 you can get good distance doos to win the sprint racing but no sprinter will win the distance race into a head wind at 500ml i have been fortunet to have doos that can win from 50ml to 575ml but if you feed light for the early races say on round about thay whant come back on for the distant races so be verey carefule you have to set your stol out for what races you think are more inportent for you and get a routen that suets you and stick to it doos love rutein so i have been told 8) 8) 8) 8)
ovy1255 Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 Try E Goodyear barnsley he has not raced for a while so he isnt keeping any back ,i got 4 last year 3 scored -willy jacobs breed -affordable prices £35 per young bird.
holmsidelofts Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 Sprint to middle is upto i would say 300 - 350 max then you are into long distance racing.
