could you keep us up to date on this?,any bird that can get into that state ,and still keep going, deserves a fighting chance does it not?

hope all ends well, well done david for trying to help this bird out, isnt it funny how this pigeon has probably been out for weeks/months and when it finds it hour in need it turns to our help, there is nothing stranger than pigeons at tim, lets hope it all ends up well..

Hi ..Will try contacting sec' tommorow night as he was not around tonight .

Just ask me ...I get your point regards my decision about birds future ..i have got it well away from my loft and pigeons ...strangely enough my little cocker *expletive removed* was having a run in my field tonight and out of the dark she brought me a mangled pigeon ...turn's out to be one of my own that was hawked today and i had not realised it ..I would always want to know the whereabouts of my birds i  I feel i should try to keep this old stray hen alive if i can and whatever the owner does with her then that,s up to him ..I took the ingrown  nails out from inside her foot ..I cant imagine this bird has been inside a loft for a long, long time ...she is a real Auschwitz case..

I will keep you posted .

yes could of been anywhere the tough old git.

thats a disgraceful state to let a birds feet get into are you going to clip its nails and give the owner a kick up the a***.

JUMPING THE GUN AGAIN !YOU DONT NO HOW LONG THIS BIRD HAS BEEN OUT SO WHY KICK THE OWNER UP THE *expletive removed* ?

Posted

Hi all..It turns out that the owner in his astounding wisdom put this hen on the road some two weeks ago with it,s first ever toss of 30 mile ..

This was a stock bird and the owner was having a clean out !!(7yrs old)

I will be honest and say that i suppressed the bird this morning ..I found out the above details later on ...if you saw this bird you would not question my decision ..

The fancier(owner) none the less did not seem to give a hoot !!!

All the best

DAVID

i cannot express exactly, where that birds carcass should be shoved, but the owner should be walking funny [if its his bird or not the guy is a retard]

What is annoying is that the owner just 'cleaned out' his loft of this stock bird and left it at that.  If the bird were a cat or a dog he would have been fined for causing unnecessary suffering.  I wonder how many other birds this guy 'threw' out that are suffering the same fate?   Why should a pigeon be any different?

Posted

shocking that guy should be barred from keeping pigeons, really shocking cant beleive some people can be so bad to these beautiful birds we all love, and what a bad way to sort out your old stock birds, well if they were in this state he couldnt give them away, because he would of looked a BA^$%^D for the way he has treated them, makes my blood boil,

any way well done david for trying..

ok i did jump the gun but looks like i got it right . tskyes could you please refresh my memory of when i last jumped the gun as you stated AGAIN and do you think a kick up the a**e is punishment enough.

Redrocket ...In all fairness to you ,i too jumped the gunn..

It,s easy as human beings to pick up on what we see and hear at a distance and misconstrude the info'...and more likely on this forum where strong opinions and characters spend a lot of time ..

What gave me cause for concern was not the age of this bird so much as it,s claws growing into it's feet ...this birds feet would not of got like this in anyway if good ordinary animal husbandry had taken place (ORDINARY)

...the deformed state of this birds feet led me to conclude that sheer neglect was bestowed upon this creature..Maybe the owner has so many birds he just did not see this birds feet)???who knows!!

Whatever the case was, this bird was surplus to the fanciers requirements and

he chose this route for it ..not to be commended but this route none the less.

Cheers redrocket ...you were only sticking up for a fellow fancier ...i am sure everybody knows this .

DAVID

When this bird came to me it had a 9mile fly to it,s loft

i gathered that david when you said stick up for a fellow fancier.cheers the problem doesn't lie with having lots of birds in 6/8 weeks we,ll have over 200 birds in our place 40 of which are in the stock loft these birds as well as the others are handled regularly and checkout and not only there toe nails, when it comes to stock birds you tend not to handle them as often as there not training  or racing so in that case its easy to miss but its turned out that this guy has handled it and put it into a basket to train, out a stock loft and into a training basket is a no no in my books but here i go again jumping the gun.  have a nice day

Posted

its a pity the bird had to be moved on but thats better then it suffering a long drawn out death dying of starvation/dehydration and also it would have been at the mercy of wild animals while in this state, well done david for making the effort   the fancier who sent this bird on a 30 mile toss while in such poor condition should be ashamed of himself but i doubt hes given it a second thought >:(  kev

He's not a doo man, in fact he ain't a man at all as he got you to do his dirty work for him. Anyway, look on it that his loss of karma is your gain. Fly high.
