PIGEON_MAN Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 Just came in with my birds,IHU 08 N 15440,Cant read all of the phone number,0284275......any one know the rest, bricon ets ring on.Bird as been hawked but no blood half of its tail gone and all secondaries on 1 wing.
Nina 101 Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 Why have so many Northern/Scottish birds become lost recently? I keep seeing the SU code number come up on the forum. I keep popping into this forum just in case the owner of a Scottish bird I'm looking after uses it (and to pick up tips on how to take care of it properly until it's reunited with it's owner). I won't be able to contact the Scottish secretary fellow for the owners telephone number, or other contact method until Tuesday, although I am now just waiting now for the owner of a GB bird (who also came to stay last week, but had a telephone number on it's wing) to send a courier some time this week. Would the courier coming for the GB (Cumbria) bird take the Scottish bird with it too if I ask ? As Cumbria is much nearer to Scotland, than North Wales where I am. It would make sense really I would have thought, but perhaps this is not allowed? It seems a pity and a lot of unnecessary expense to have to send two separate couriers when the two owners could share a courier? Can I give these pigeons some peanuts, I keep seeing posts here mentioning peanuts, would ordinary wild bird peanuts do? They certainly appear to like wild bird food judging by the amount they are wolfing down. My only real criticism regarding these birds is... that they seem to be a little bit daft.... they pooh in their water bowl and tip their seed up all over the floor of the cat cage they presently reside in Any tips anyone on how to prevent this.. bearing in mind I am only a babysitter and do not have to hand any super dooper specialised equipment
REDCHEQHEN Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 Nina If you can hook the bowls to the sides of the cage - cable ties or the twisters that you use for polythene bags - it might hold them in place If you ring the person in Cumbria - and ask if he would mind the two going up to Cumbria - insist on separate boxes from the courier - it happened to me once - where a fancier put another bird (in a separate box) sending it closer to home - there isn't usually any extra charge anyway
Nina 101 Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 When the owner rings me tomorrow I'll suggest that ....thank you

pj1001 Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 The telephone number for the bird IHU 08 N 15440 (0284275......) doesn't match the code for the secretary of the club that the bird is registered too, nor anything like it, so I would assume the bird has either been given to someone or was bought in from someone. The bird is registerd to the Ballywalter HPS, Secretary Mr G Baile, 240 Ballywalter Road, Millisle, BT22 2DN. Tel no. 028 91861177. He might be able to shed a bit more light on the owner of the bird. Hope this is of some help. PJ

Nina 101 Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 Just thought I would let you know I have now made contact with the Scottish pigeons owner. The owner of this bird and the GB Cumbria bird owner are going to share a courier, so both my little foster pigeons will be going home together tomorrow ( At least I will be at work and won't have to watch them go). Thank you everyone for your help, kindness and advice over the last few days. It was much appreciated
