ring the tel no on the wing stamp karl if the owner has gone to the trouble of stamping it then he/she may well want it back  at least give the owner the choice  i woud certainly want to know where my bird had ended up  (preferably not it the bin) all the best  debbie :)

the Scottish old birds are not allowed to be wing stamped as is the case with GB birds that are gifted to us or bought at sales in Blackpool when we race birds no mater where they have come from they are not

allowed ,      as it is seen as a identification as to be able to nobble a basket, and get your birds rubber ring from it with more ease,if your are into cheating, also there was a scam going on some years ago  where the person in question was going around the towns  catching strays  and was charging for the upkeep of your or our birds at £ 5 a night and had law on his side

this seems all to often people not reporting lost birds be it old or young birds ,the problem is when you report the bird thats when it starts, there always off combine winners fed winners but you can keep it or kill it .but they are not sending for it ,they dont want it back ,so it down to you to dispose of the bird .

you can telephone fanciers leave messages on answer phones ,then wait weeks for a call from the owner who always has just come back off holiday ,who has been away for weeks sunning themselfs in the sun in some remote part of the world.only to be told could you throw it up or cull it mate.

im sure parts of this is why fanciers seem reluctant to report stray pigeons old or young ,

i hate it when i get a pigeon flown out enter my lofts , i always give the bird the best attention i can to get the bird right it can take two three weeks and there looking beautiful again ,only for the owner to say would i dispose of the bird ,which could take that time to respond to several left calls ,now i look for the area the bird as come from if its stamped and i help the bird on its way home ,it saves my time waiting for some irresponsible fancier not returning my calls with some bloody excuse .but its not often you get a bird thats stamped but they always have a fresh rubber on .

if it's local i'll report it. trouble is that those willing to amtrak are a tiny minority....which leaves you in a muddle. either you force them to collect (frankly i get enough hassle at work), bin it (not fair on the bird) or leave it with your own (and if it's still there after training)report it . if you report straight away and they want to transfer it, then when it goes awol again you are the one paying amtrak. i  think that perhaps wingstamping should not be compulsory. that way if a wingstamped bird enters your loft you know the owner wants it back.

Or Tarzan you can just politely say 'Sorry I don't want it, and as I don't cull my own, I'm blumming sure I am not culling your's'. RPRA rule state that they MUST send / collect it if you so desire.

Interesting nobody has said isolate it, then report it etc etc, never know what a stray may be carrying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
