Guest Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 Just had a thought, how about having a 200 mile challenge race on old birds. The way I see it working is that entrants send in the position of their best three birds, plus number of lofts and total birdage for race and we can work the result out on a co-efficient programme we have on the computer. I think it would be fun and open to flyers on both sides of the Big Pond
Tony C Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 How about nominating three yearlings before racing starts. The small team fancier/novice will not be disadvantaged this way.
Guest Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 It's down to the members to decided between ourselves, how the challenge is run tony
jimmy white Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 :) a good idea, and a good interest for forum members :)
Guest slugmonkey Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 I am in sounds like fun, just yearlings or any OB
Guest Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 You nominate your birds or whatever the members decide. when the race has been flown, you send your results by e-mail to me Position o your three birds, number of Lofts, total number of birds entered in race and we will load them into our puter programme
Guest Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 count me in. but we might not get 200 mile racimng lol,
Guest Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 it's more than 200 to the coast isn't it Gez
Guest WINGS 04 Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 YES BUT WILL THE WIND NOT PLAY A BIG PART IN THIS AS IF YOU ARE FLYING IN TO SCOTLAND AND THE WIND IS FROM THE NORTH THEN THE BIRDS GOING DOWN IN TO ENGLAND WILL HAVE A GOOD HELP OR THE OTHER WAY ABOUT
Guest WINGS 04 Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 I WILL BE IN IT AS WELL BUT I THINK OR RACE IS 220 MILES AND IT IS OR 7TH RACE
Guest Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 The programme works the mileage out in the co-efficient, so if you are rcing 190 for 230 the programme will come up with the right result
Guest Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 Wings No doubt BirdMan (my other half) will be putting a team in and we always fly into headwinds.
square_peg Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 were in count fredo44 in to he's a bit slow ;D
Guest Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 Thanks to all who have shown interest in my idea. I think the consensus of opinion seems to go with entering yearlings. what I need from all who have shown interest is an e-mail to me at linda@redroselofts.com, giving me your full name and addy. loft name and PB nickname and thedistance you will be competing from, then I can start setting up the database. If you know the ring numbers so much the better you can also send those, but they will do later. I don't race old birds, so I won't be entering but Steve (Birdman) will be putting a team in.
pigeonpete Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 hi great idea im up 4 that! but not sure of distances as yet as dont know where were flying from! cud be a max of 177 miles :-/ wud that still be o.k?
Guest Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 The exact distnce doesn't matter, the progrmme will work the result out to the mileage entered.
fredspears44 Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 VERIFYING SQUARE PEG COUNT ME IN (SLOW BUT CONSISTENT
