Had a youngster return from Maidstone race this morning - it was from the 24th September race (2 or 3 day holdover)

I had 2 missing from that race (would like the other one back please)

Birds came back in dreadful condition from the race, this returnee has mud all over his feet and life ring so would say he's been roughing it, still has ETS ring on

He's in sick bay (quarantine) for however long is required - missing 7 weeks

when I look to see how many flights he has to go - he will at some point be wormed and observed for a while

What do others do with late returnees to get them back to a decent state?

Safer to isolate and perhaps give a year off depending on condition. Once through a good moult is time enough to put back on the road, or else keep to short and expected to be easy races, condition wise. :)
