  1. I've just bought two of these mid 80's mags from ebay, didn't know anything about them. Anyone got any going?
  2. Nothing in this weeks fancy press regarding my Ten Easy Ways to Make Money; i did send it in on Easter Monday, so maybe it will be in nx week. Pleased to have bought the BHW this week, all about M & D Evans ( like watching a film on Channel 5, ads, ads, ads etc ), must of costed them a bomb to advertise all those pages, but with ybs starting at £100 each i'm sure these shrewd businessmen will recoup their outlay
  3. Let's see if the BHW & RP print it. I sent it in by email on Monday. Great to see the comments from genuine fliers
  4. I posted the above on pigeon chat and it was pulled inside ten mins! Just like to add: We have thousands of birds lost year after year, birds with defects and prone to disease because the stock have never been proven in races or their youngsters never tested. Too many sellers and not enough racers in the game now! I have no quibble with top lofts with results to back up their sales; its the b******s who purchase the birds just make some easy money at the expense of others.
  5. Thanks Brian for your valuable insight.
  6. How To Make Money In Pigeons! 1. Research the market. 2. Consumers want latest fashion and fancy colours. 3. Buy from fashionable winning loft/s of the latest craze, make sure the name starts with ‘VAN’. Get these as cheap as possible, buy as many eggs at end of season and put under your duff racers/feeders. Do same with the colours White & Grizzle. 4. On no occasion must these pigeons be allowed their freedom, they are your future wealth. 5. Get a friendly scribe to write a winter report on your loft and your new superior bloodlines; have pictures taken of the colours. If you fail with scribe, then join all internet pigeon sites and post pictures of the colours and Van’s with family history of past winnings. Make sure you mention large cash winnings and nationally known fliers who race with your famous names. 6. Farm your product under your racers/feeders. Take pictures of babies ( colours are best ) and post them on internet sites with Headers - RACING WHITE/GRIZZLE BABIES RELATED TO 26 NATIONAL WINNERS or THE MONEYMAKERS OF RIP VAN WINKLE. Price them at £50 per bird or £90 a pair. 7. Post an ad on internet sites ( Don’t use fancy press, too expensive ) “ Due to personal reasons you are unable to race this year so all ybs must be sold” Sell in racing kits of 6 or 12, £300 for 6 or £540 for 12. 8. Aim for an average of £45 per bird. 9. In August post ads again for latebreds bred from your superior bloodlines with Headers -LAST CHANCE TO RE-STOCK YOUR LOFT FOR NEXT YEAR or NATIONAL WINNING BLOODLINES FOR ONLY £45. 10. Count your cash. Assuming you started with 12 pair of breeders, bred 6 ybs from each and farmed 6 pair of eggs to feeders with a 100% hatch rate you would of made £540 per pair at the average of £45 per bird. £540 x 12 = £6480 Nice little tax free, low risk sideline anyone can try. PS: This scam works best if you have no personal attachment to pigeons and no conscience. Yours Sincerely WANNAMAKEABUCK LOFTS.

The Blackpool edition was in a sealed seethrough sleeve. Being an ex newsagent i can tell you that security boxes had to be used for all newspapers and magazines unless you went to the depot and collected yourself; these boxes are weatherproof and secure, but i can only speak for myself.

  20. You a doctor Vic?
  21. We race the fed programme for channel races, though this was changed once it was decided to go with the SMT. Club racing for me is only about getting birds fit for the channel and educating yb's.
  22. I have posted elsewhere regarding this problem. The South Coast Fed is in the same situation, we are transported with the SMT over the channel at higher expense than the BICC. I shall go to the AGM and propose that The South Coast Fed should become an inland racing fed only for the future of the Federation. I'm situated in Brighton and Newton Abbot is near on 200miles to me and we can basket on a Friday Night without any problems, this is as far as we need to go for 16wks of the year. 66 -200MILES races every week would ensure a profit for the fed each week and if we allow yb's to be raced in June as well, we would have full transporters nearly every week right upto September. I prefer channel racing and fly with the BICC not my fed, this isn't my way of securing sprint racing for myself; this is the way of securing a federation in this region, channel racing in our region has the NFC, BBC, BICC, CSCFC & LSECC to fulfill their needs and at a cheaper outlay than our own fed. Channel fliers usually belong to at least one of the above clubs so they rarely supoort the fed races and i don't see areason why inland racers should support a few who send to the channel. Eleven inland races with upto 2500 birds most weeks compared to five channels with max 850 first channel race down to 250 if they are lucky from last race. The profit from the inland races are then ate up by the charges for the channel events and maybe the fed will break even again! Enough is enough, time to make a profit each year to cover the costs of fuel, insurance, holdovers etc....Finally, with inland racing you can always delay basketing, or move racepoints due to the weather forecast; most fanciers just want to race each week from April-Sept.
