What good will taking the law in to your own hands do.You wont see or race many pigeons from inside the prison and wont see jack as mutch either -
Tip #1: Any non-acetone finger nail polish remover will take that off and not hurt the carpet. Take a paper towel soak it down a little and wipe it off. Try to keep the area contained that you rub, at first it will look like you are smearing it around, just keep changing paper towels with a new one until stain is gone. You need to change your cloth several times so you're not sliding polish over a bigger area. When done a liquid dish soap will get the smell out of the carpet. Tip #2: I use the polish remover and blot, then GooGone works to remove the remaining stain. Tip #3: When I spilt fuschia nail polish on my carpet I saturated it with non-acetone nail polish remover and scrubbed it with a white cloth. After the color stopped coming out on cloth (and it was still slightly pink on the carpet) I made a mixture of liquid dish soap, hot water and bleach and continued scrubbing until the nail polish came out (for white carpets only). If that doesn't work for you try using a fabric marker from a craft store and color over the stain. Tip #4: I spilled dark purple nail polish on my light grey carpet. When I tried nail polish remover it didn't do a thing. Then a friend told me to try window cleaner and it worked great. I can't even tell it happened. Tip #5: Tried the window cleaner on the nail polish on the carpet and it worked a treat. The nail polish remover made the carpet turn pink...Barbara Tip #6: My 2- and 4-year-old grandsons gave me a "manicure and pedicure" for Mother's Day, and ...wouldn't you know it? Some polish ended up on the carpet. Go figure. Well, nan's don't complain. Inside I panicked. I had no nail polish remover, and no carpet cleaner. I tried vinegar on it, just blotting it, not rubbing, as instructed by my most recent professional carpet cleaners. You won't believe how completely clean it came! Did I mention that it was BLACK NAIL POLISH? I thought my carpet was finished! Now, if only I could think of how to...ahem... deal with my nails...Loretta Tip #7: I tried to remove the giant purple nail polish stain from my green carpet with polish remover and all it did was smear the stain and frustrate me. I read that someone tried glass cleaner and that it worked, so I tried it. It did not take away the purple completely, but it did take away enough of it that it blends into the green enough to not be so shocking. Thank you to whoever came up with this idea. You saved my 4-year-old quite a few tears!!...Rachael Tip #8: I live in military housing where the carpet is a cheaper variety and was mortified when I saw my girls had spilt nail polish on the carpet and tried to clean it up. I took the advice and used glass cleaner, all I had was the green multi surface type and it worked like a charm! You can't even tell it was there, save a bit of smell. That tip saved some young girls from a major grounding. P.S. The carpet was a neutral tan...Robert Tip #9: I picked up a bottle of opi nail polish. The lid was not tightened and it went all over the side of the couch and the carpet. It was a bright pink and my couch and carpet are tan & green. I tried the nail polish remover. All it did was smear the polish, so I tried the window cleaner and it came right up!! Thank you so much!...Michele Tip #10: Thank you for suggesting that window cleaner will remove spilled nail polish from a carpet! The nail polish remover did remove some, but the window cleaner worked great!...Christine Tip #11: The windex was the trick. Thank you so much for the suggestion. I also tried the nail polish remover and it did get out a little bit of the purple polish out of the carpet but the Windex got the rest of it...Sue Tip #12: After reading the tips on this site for removing nail polish from carpet, I tried it too! I spilt some red nail polish on my brand new tan colored wool carpet. I sprayed a little window cleaner and it came out so easily! I was amazed!!!!! Thank you so much!!...Brad Tip #13: I just walked into my daughter's room and was greeted by 3 large red spots of fingernail polish on our tan carpet. I found this site, used the windex and the stain came right out! It was effortless and painless and I'm already over it! Thanks a lot for your great tip...Marie Tip #14: I spilt bright orange high gloss nail polish onto my cream lounge carpet! Don't use nail polish remover - it just smears it. Use a glass or window cleaner spray - it works wonders! Next tip - don't polish your nails on your lounge carpet!!!!!!...Amanda Tip #15: Amazing!!! My daughter hid a very large spot of fingernail polish she had spilled on my carpet. I read this site for using Windex on it and PRESTO - it's practically gone! Thank you all!...Deb Tip #16: My boyfriend wanted to try to paint my nails. In his excitement, he knocked over the bottle that flipped several times on its way to the ground. After trying to blot the carpet with nail polish remover and having no success, we tried glass cleaner and COULD NOT BELIEVE the results! Skip the remover!...Sharon Tip #17: Windex, windex, and more windex and PRESTO! Well with some elbo grease it worked like a charm!!!!!... Debra Tip #18: My daughter was painting my nails and we spilled red nail polish on light green carpet. We first tried using nail polish remover, however that left a very pretty pink stain. We then attempted to use peroxide as another web site suggested, which did nothing but lighten the pink stain ever so slightly. After logging onto this web site we decided to try the Goo Gone. WOW!!! there is no trace of the stain. The Goo Gone really worked. Of course we used Q-tips to get down into the carpet fibers and scrub, but it worked. We can't even tell where the stain was. Good thing because my husband would have banned us for life from painting nails in the living room. Thank you for the terrific tip...Julie Tip #19: ABSOLUTELY USE WINDOW CLEANER! My mother just 30 minutes ago spilt her entire bottle of RED NAIL POLISH all over our cream carpet. My father lost it and I was on the phone to the Carpet Specialist, pronto. The Carpet Specialist told me that it would be best to just do it ourselves otherwise him coming to our house would cost $250!!! I checked online for any tips on cleaning up this mess and found that window/glass cleaner is most likely the best option. With nothing to lose...we saturated the carpet with window cleaner and OMGosh...the stain is 97% gone!!! I NEVER WOULD HAVE BELIEVED THIS UNLESS WE TRIED THIS OURSELVES! It's not as easy as wetting the carpet with window cleaner...there is a massive amount of elbow grease that went into scrubbing out the stain...but it worked nonetheless. Thank you everyone for your help!!!...Melissa Tip #20: Read your tips; thanks to all! Decided to go with the Windex, and also tried a mixture of hot water and Oxi-Clean. Used a lot of elbow grease with both...Roxanne Tip #21: Thanks so much everyone who submitted this tip!! I was beside myself when a bottle of red nail polish fell off my dresser and hit the leg of my fan and exploded on my light tan brand new carpet. I used 3 bottles of polish remover and it was a mess. Got online and saw your tips and immediately sprayed the window cleaner all over it and blotted it up stepping on a towel. It is truly amazing!!!! Stain is pretty much gone. Thanks again!!!...Dolores Tip #22: WINDOW CLEANER!!!! I'm a college student renting a house and I spilled red nail polish all over tan carpeting...my landlord would have NOT been happy about that! Thanks to this tip, I can't even tell where the stain is! It takes time and a lot of scrubbing so don't get frustrated...keep on truckin!...Jen Tip #23: Thanks so much for this site!! My daughter busted an entire bottle of hot pink nail polish all over my brand new tan carpet and I went through most a bottle of Windex but you can hardly see there was ever any there! Thanks again so much!! P.S. I did notice that using a wash rag instead of paper towels seems to get the polish out more thoroughly...Ashlly Tip #24: I spilled some dark red nail polish on my bedroom carpet and immediately tried to soak it up with the nail polish remover; however, all that did was smear the mess around more. Then, amid my frustration I decided to go online to see if there was a better recommendation and here I read about the Windex. WOW! is all I can say! It worked!...Lisa Tip #25: My daughter spilled dark red nail polish on my new beige nylon carpet. Windex did nothing, but shaving cream was the ticket. I used Colgate and a lot of it. I had to really rub it in, then scrub with a wet towel and repeat several times. Amazing is all I can say! It really took it out. I then used some Windex to help afterwards, followed by white vinegar...Nancy Tip #26: I read everyone's tip about using window cleaner on the spilled fingernail polish. I had doubts, but over time, saturation, and elbow grease with a bristle brush the bright pinkish red fingernail polish came out. Thanks!!!...Suze Tip #27: My granddaughter spilled red finger nail polish on our white carpeting. The polish had not only been absorbed by the carpet fibers but also by the carpet base. Naturally, my wife was very upset and thought the carpet was going to have to be patched. I intermittently used Windex and Spray and Wash with Resolve Power, spraying it on the carpeting and removing it with a clean rag. It worked and no nail stains remain...Robert Tip #28: Window cleaner works great! Just tried it after the little girls had a sleep over and spilled red on a green carpet. It really breaks it down so it comes out better. SUGGESTION: Instead of paper towels I use blue shop towels (heavy duty paper towels basically). They stand up to the scrubbing on carpets. Use them all the time for stuff like this and you can toss em or re-use em...Katherine Tip #29: My two-year-old little girl poured two bottles of pink and one purple finger nail polish on my brand new tan carpet. I used window cleaner (Windex) way too much work for me. I also did the vinegar, nope. So I purchased Motsenbocker's Lift Off #5 for Latex paint, Permanent Marker, Pen and Ink Remover 22oz from Home Depot for about $7.00...AMAZING!!! It just disappeared. Spray it well blot and rub with a towel and the nail polish is gone...Angie Tip #30: I spilled black nail polish on cream colored carpet--I quickly went to the computer for how to's and tried the window cleaner trick it seemed most recommended and quickest. I pulled out the Fantastic Multi Purpose Cleaner with oxypower (i use it on mirrors and windows) and 5 minutes time it was GONE! Thanks for the tip!...Bella Tip #31: I don't have Windex in my home so I tried the vinegar. I was having trouble with a larger stain and remembered Kim and Aggie's (from How Clean is Your House) tip about using toothpaste to bleach/clean fridge doors. I tried that with the vinegar (no water) and the spot started clearing instantly (red quick drying polish). Tip #32: I left my 2 year old son for 2 minutes to take some laundry upstairs. When I came down, I found he poured 2 bottles of nailpoish all over the carpet (his clothes, his toys & his hair). I immediately grabbed nail polish remover - it didn't work for me. I found this site. I sprayed Windex & scrubbed it with a paper towel - that didn't work either. I read to get a scrub brush, saturate it with Windex or any glass cleaner (I had the Target brand) & scrub, scrub & scrub. Well - IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was a very dark deep purple & it is gone!!! What a great tip!...Maureen
