I think it would be a disaster, most fanciers train their birds on the line of flight to suit their fed race program, then to take birds and send them in the opposite direction to an open race I think it spells disaster.so for me NO.

lights are a must if ybs have been on darkness so they can grow their flights and catch up. I didn't have lights last year and some of my ybs held 1 or even 2 flights .
