  1. Bought in some couple years back for daughter trained them hard with my vanloons and must say they held their own several times came with first birds but at time was on T3 so always clocked pool birds first still have a small team now and they have won for friends up to federation level will be racing next year as had year off and whites will be in race team only thing is they don't always breed pure whites every nest dom McCoy
  2. Good all round distance pigeon lots of fanciers (distance men) have them but don't say anything
  3. Go to your local fanciers who are nearly always in the result wait till end of season you may be able to pick up a bargain or two and try to get some stock if no good the try further afield at the end of the day it depends on your flying distances and how much you want to spend why not wait till end of season and look at entire clearance sales always worth a look all the best dom mccoy
  4. WHAT CAME FIRST THE PIGEON OR THE EGG????
  5. Louella pay good money for good birds and everyone says the apple doesn't fall far from the tree I feel like anything the closer to source the better that is not to say that birds generations away will produce the goods but if you can by children or gchildren from louella you wont get a better deal pedigree wise but pedigrees don't win races the birds do
  6. All I am doing is saying what the others said forget about strains look at peoples results and try to get some of the y/bs maybe off widowhood cocks for the first couple years I would just do that you don t want to spend fortunes by buying a certain strain all the best maybe some flyers on basics will help you out ??
  7. Has this loft now been sold
  8. Instead of racing natural why not race roundabout i think that it is a waste of good hens by just racing cocks we race roundabout and even get hens and cocks home together with no problems its all to do with motivation then on race day all they want to do is enter loft as regards to bringing hens back in to racing i find that as long as they were educated as youngsters then i think you will be very surprised with tnem next season all the best
  9. The more youngsters you put in the loft the more chance of disease it also depends on loft is the front all open ie dowels or is it all closed with polycarbonate my theory is if you can smell the birds the air flow is wrong the more air the better even my roundabout lofts are dowelled fronts with corridors as for letting y/bs out early morning first light in my opinion is best as long as when the land you get them straight in as you dont want them to get any bad habits also my birds fly really well at first light
  10. We have hens that are over 8 years old and still producing the goods ithink that if like our birds they are a close bred family then it doesnt matter what age they are its in the blood
  11. We have several different types of dogs three guard dogs that are out at night and several jack russells that also most of them live outside under the lofts although they ave kennells prefer it under lofts keeps away any vermin although they are good around pigeons most of time they go in and out of loft following me when a late comer returns or the birds are out with no one there i have lost the odd pigeon and found feathers under loft but have never seen them catch a pigeon BUT they are terriers and are natural hunters as said great for vermin as long as you are around when birds are out

  21. Van den bosche birds are the foundation of karel boeckx birds who races with great success in Tourneout and although they are mainly blues and dark cheq from the ones i have i getsom blue and cheq pieds probably going back to old line of van den bosch
  22. talking to a old pigeon fancier a few weeks ago he was telling me about training and racing birds and being of a polite nature and respect for my elders i always give them the time of day anyway something interesting came from this conversation regarding hawk strikes whilst training birds he suggested putting all birds of similar colour in basket no more than ten birds and all pieds white flights mealys etc in same basket thus when they are in the air and the hawk is above nothing really stands out like if you had blue check in basket with one gay pied the theory is the hawk would pick out pied because he would stand out anyway i have tried this theory and as far as goes all birds have come home in one piece maybe this way does work? anything is worth a try whats your thoughts ? and have you tried this ?
  23. Today on talk radio there was a debate on small birds and song birds the rspb comfirmed that tha small bird population has increased this year and their answer is that because this year we had our first mild winter the song bird population has increased they also said that the reason for the decline in our song birds was great britian had become much colder NO MENTION WHAT SO EVER ABOUT HAWKS whats your opinion.?
  24. dont know any one down here flying white emperors i do know few people flying white pigeons successfully in fact i dont know any one who has gone and bought white emperors ? has any one done any good with these pigeons ? most fanciers who have the odd white pigeons are su perman strain or from abroad commines etc
