  2. Just ask me, this is what i do all year, scour out the bhw and homing world week in week out and its read from front to back,i asses what distance id be looking for, and compile a list of names, against what competition ect, that they are competting against, then you asses who's winning with those birds. If the original fellow you are looking at is winning with many different strains, id generally count him out, but the man winning week in week out against big birdage and strong compettion in the chosen distance with the same strain, id be more inclined to say his winning plays a big part in with the family of birds he has compiled together, then the man winning with janseens one week then marcellis the next. Just my personal opinion and is something i do when im intending to bring in pigeons, sounds like hard work but it will be worth it

  12. havent used a hutch for many years now but i remeber bracking out a pair of nuns i had in a hutch, got them used to the hutch for a long while but letting them out at first and getting them in was the problem, but was easily rectified in 3 days, and they soon realised that they had to trap straight onto the hutches landing board otherwise, they would go short that night. Same with all animal training, if u train a chimp you use food as an essentive, so if it doesnt do it first no treat, untill they get the idea of it. After a while these nuns, would really trap, however they was fed as much as they liked untill they started to leave barley, once they learnt they had to trap otherwise no treat.
  13. thanks Jim, its stumped me, i just hope they return, otherwise old bird season next yr will have a knock on affect
  14. 12/34, just a shame, had a brillant team off young birds, and it wasnt a bad weather day for racing on the whole, cant get my head around this one, im just hopin they work there way back up
  15. also in same boat, and alot of fanciers i know one who sent 80 and hadnt seen a feather
  16. essex and london have taken a right stinker of a race today many many birds missing
  17. i also chuck alot of these out from my Van Loons
  18. myself i agree with multiple clockings, its the only way you can improve as fanciers in my own opinion, id prefere multiple clockings, if a geezer has 8 before me id prefere to know that, then him saying had 6 drop together, but could only time in 2! They pay there money to send there birds so they have the right to time them in, and if 6 of em beat you, so be it, it makes you try that bit harder, and builds up the incentive of every sport, to be competitive and be the absolute best, and through selection if you have the best fliers in your federation or club doing so timing in many, you can work out your best birds, by either ruthless selection, by only picking the ones that beat his or there birds, or by buying in a different family of birds to beat the fancier, we dont have no mob men in our club as we have a 20 bird limit, sorry just my own personaly opinions of multiple clocking,
  19. yes i believe that what happens down here also
  20. Personally i would say that the birds, have become sexually active, hence the reason for not flying if its possible split the sexes
  21. if he didnt sound so murder with your birds damien i would have taken him off your hands, its a shame cos he is a real beauty
  22. have to agree, some of my best years was with a good team of widowhood cocks 14 widowhood cocks, and they would terrorise each other by trying to dominate each others box, created hell of a jealousy, and was amazing to watch on getting them in every cock cooing about and roaring, and going for each other on the grass like lions! Sure would love another season like that one
  23. wise choice!!
  24. Who remebers this video series? Some of the lofts and number of birds actually made me laugh cos they wasnt small at all, i look at results in both rp and bhw each week, and you hardly ever see on the reports how many birds a member has sent, what i am interested in is how many people on here, know fanciers who send small birdage, but still dominate there federation, year after year? will be interesting to read. I'll start of with a guy in my area, Paul Elliot Of Canning Town, races a magnificent 7 widowhood cocks, and around 20 young birds racing in a club with 20 bird limit. Out and out sprint genious god knows how he does it year after year he puts in top performances at club and federation level.
