  1. Carol where do you find the hemp seed, I haven't seen any for years, we use to be able to buy sterile hemp seed from the pet stores but it was way over priced for me at around $50 per 50 lb bag, of course 50 lbs would probably last forever. Later. Ed
  2. Great story Roland and I am glad the gypsy was right. Best of luck to you, your family and your birds. Ed
  3. Hi Jack. I will email you right away. Ed
  4. Roland for a non believer you seem to be well versed and even posted a web site for Flemming, seems to me you might just be a believer at heart and not just willing to admit it. In my opinion eyes are not the main tool but just one of very many tools you can use. Those that choose not to use it just lose one more key that is at their disposal. Good day. Ed
  5. Hey Andrew if you over sell, just hollar and I will send ya some over. We can both make some $$$.... ;D ;D ;D Just kidding. Hope you do well and the ybs fly straight and win all the prizes.. Ed

  7. Jim. Yes common pigeons will also home, I tested 4 commons on my race team and all survived training out to 125 miles, after that they were lost. Rollers will get blown away and never return. Check out some of the birmingham roller clubs and they will tell ya. One good thing about rollers is you can make a portable flying loft and haul it around in the back of the truck and fly them where ever you want, also the rollers usually only sell for about $5 each, but remember that probably all they are worth.. LOL. I really do recommend the racers... Ed
  8. Thats a very wise decision and one that most will not or doesn't want to do, but sooner or later its one we all have to make. Smarter ones just made the decision sooner. Me well I was one of the late ones.... ;D ;D Ed
  9. Have you check to see what the percentages of each color will be over say a two year period?
  10. As Tim said most believe its the cock. Truth is the hen is the ticket. Ed
  11. Never split the golden pair. NEVER.............. Ed
  12. Ransom thats a dandy looking cock bird but maybe a triffle long in the ear (old). ;D Ed
  13. Staffy if your remarks were not so insulting they would be funny. You seem to be the self claimed master of the universe and all pigeon knowledge, I personally will continue to smile when I read your posts because its doubtful to me if you can tell a hen from a cock. Ed (my real name by the way)
  14. Here is Linda web site. Possibly there might be a email link there. Ed http://www.redroselofts.com/
  15. Thanks Craig.. Ed
  16. There are only 2 colors of the eye. White and Yellow. The violet you are refering to is actually white. Remember the true color lays beneith the Iris. Ed
  17. In 1999 I had a 1983 Delbar cock that still looked very good but unfortunately he had quit filling eggs 2 years before that. In 2000 the cock didn't outfly a goshawk. Ed
  18. He really is a Plonker, and I believe a real mccoy of a plonker.. Ed ;)
  19. Right on Tammy, maybe that is why he hasn't answered any of these questions, his head IS stuck in the roof and he can't get to the PC.. Ed ;) ;D ;D ;D
  20. Is the book available in the states? Ed
  21. I also have eggs now and hopefully our bands will be in on the 1st as I will need them.. They will be here won't they Carol???? LOL. Ed ;D
  22. Well I certainly agree with almost every post on here. If the forum looses Linda then it has certainly lost one of its most knowledgable fanciers, she is a proven competetor on the race circuit and very keen with her overall pigeon ability. Linda you will sorely be missed and I also wish you would reconsider. Ed
  23. I agree pigeonpete, most if not all racers now adays are mixed in the peds, I would even venture to say that the majority ALL have Janssen blood somewhere in the background due to the popularity and success of the janssens in the past.. Ed
  24. Pender, by no means am I an expert in this but it has always been my assumption that line breeding in one cock to his daughter and granddaughters, where in breeding in just related birds. Ed
  25. Tim. The way I understand it is that all the protein a pigeon can or will absorb is 17%, if you feed 24%l protein all the birds retain from it is 17% max. So I guess to answer your question I would say NO.. Also try putting your stubborn cock in a mating cage where he can see the hen and no other pigeons, something like a large breeder box with a wire screen seperating the cock from the hen you want mated up with, leave them that way until you see them beaking between the wire then just put them together. This will work unless he has been mated with another hen in the loft.. These are my thoughts anyway. Ed
