  5. I only saw the last few minutes, if they soaked up that pressure for 90mins. then well done to them

They certainly head for home more quickly than try to out-fly them George
  8. Owen you're an old cynic, I must say I don't disagree with any of your posts I read, but I know you have worked hard to get the sprint family you have now, If I were advising a newbie/youngster starting up today I would definitely advise to go for a "strain", this starting with odd birds, donations from good hearted fanciers must be the worst possible start and the surest way to put people off staying in the sport, That way they are always starting at the beginning, with a "strain" at least you have a foot on the ladder

Same here, I have my old mob on open loft, 40 odd birds, I rarely lose one, my other lot of 40 that are only 30yds. away get hammered when I let them out, have kept them in this week, the last time they were out within 10mins. I had percy and a hen Gos at them, I thought they had escaped unscathed but when I shut up there were 2 missing, I can't see the difference but I must be missing something
  10. I must agree with Owen on this one, if eye-sign played any part of choosing top breeders/winners then I'm sure it would have been taken up by the horse racing fraternity.
  11. As you say , there can never be a strain as such, just birds cobbled together from someone but some people are better than others at it, guess that's why we know them by name
  12. We would describe that as crazy, 11 weeks racing all over 4000mls. and some fancier to keep the bird in that condition
  13. Just checked my records and it was a hen off him, a double G/Daughter, The Dam was a grizzle, the only Grizzle I've ever bought in and I've still got 6 now so they are good survivors, the memory fades but if they are still here they must have done something
  14. I'm starting to think are we too soft with our birds nowadays
  15. I had a G/Son of his in 1975
  16. Busschaerts for me
  17. If the bird cannot get out after timing it can trap to anything
  18. Thought that was illegal
  19. Scroll down that link Andy and have a look at Mausie's performance in the run up to Barcelona
  20. Never see or hear a firework out here but the birds don't react to the old shot-gun
  21. Night Andy, I'm away to my pit myself
