  1. Good Morning Shadow ,i am a novice here but i couldn't agree with you more . I took an interest in this sport or hobby and even went to the bother of posting an article from SOS thats Scotland on Sunday for those who read others and spoke to Ian Mc Call about BOP and the culling of them , i even went on the Scottish Parliment web site and posted what was needed doing , as i was sick of everyone posting about BOP and doing nothing and only shouting about what should be done .Yes i agree this site is useless unless you want to argue with everyone or belittle others ,or if you are selling something .No real issues are being addressed and when someone tries to help they get shot down or ignored .Shadow i also being a novice don't come on myself much now as it is always the same people who post ,lots of people look at the postings but say nothing .For a site with so many members it should be working together to encourage new members and to do something constuctive about BOP . Enjoy your birds Shadow and i wish you well for the future . Avril
  2. George i am sure u can get your own way there , but if Harry does you will have to sit in the back !
  3. Harry darling , i would like to come to the show also ,you could pick me up on your way there and drop me off so i can get ready for the dance at night if this is ok with you , see you also there Carol looking forward to dancing the night away with a man in a kilt !
  4. i think it would be an idea for everyone to look on the scottish parliment web site , and have a look under the wildlife section and see what you think .There seems to be some things going on in 2009 which is what Ian mentioned to me .So as i see it you will have to read about the licences which don't include BOP as i have had a look licence nuber no2/2009 .and see what you can all do to get something together for a case for the scottish parliment to look into it . Not sure how good news it is stb as nothings been done yet . Avril
  5. The latest news , I have been talking with Ian McCall this morning .He also thinks that we should have a license for people to have to kill BOP who are interfering with live stock .which pigeon's are .He tells me there have been many meeting with the Scottish Parliment into the damage that they are doing .Hugh Digman is the guy to get intouch with and to set up a meeting with facts and figures on the problems that you are all having . As yet many landowners have applied for licenses to kills these birds but none have been issued yet ,the Scottish Office was supposed to do research into the problems but since have not! Wonder why too much bother . However he did say that in the years he has been working on it , it is a little step which we collectively have to now demand to have changed if there are enough force behind it . He says good luck and that he is now retiring and hopes that all his work has not been in vain , and that something has to be done to stop the numbers increasing and stock birds and wildlife being the targets for BOP more so sparrowhawks .So i have done my bit what do you all want to do about it now , give up or support what Ian started , i said i would keep him informed on what if anything we are willing to do . Avril

  12. These pictures make me feel sick , im glad i don't have any birds myself as i wouldn't be able to help them if they came home like this .Franny has also sent a letter with pics to the conservationist so that may also help .I will keep everyone posted once ive spoke to Ian , Sending the pictures and areas effected directly to him might be better 'i will ask him first to see what he is suggesting we do .David is there people in your area also ok with joining this action ,i know you posted it on your site also . 15. morning , one small loft and a lot of love can do it . I enjoyed reading about Ron ,i bet it was the best thing his wife every bought him .
  16. I have wrote to the consevation trust to ask that Ian Mc Call get intouch with me about this issue on BOP . I have decided to give him my support myself .Me being a woman in a mans sport as it seems there are too few men speaking up for this issue .I am sure if however it was a man who had read this article in the News of the World or the Sporting news instead of the SOS .for those who don't know that's The Scotland on Sunday there would be more support .I will keep those interested in the outcome once i have made contact with Ian . Avril
  17. How many members are on PB and other sites ,i have read posts before with everyone going on and on about BOP and doing nothing .If everyone does just that and does not give this guy stories about what they are doing to your own birds how is he expected to voice your opinions if no one helps him .As i said before i can't say anything as i don't have birds ,being negative will get everyone no place but if every member did something positive instead of being negative about it all the time then things would get sorted . I have had a member on here asking me if he could post this onto another site so at least someone else is behind this . Good luck to you all, throwing a pebble into a pond makes many ripples ........think about it !
  18. Thank you Kev .......... i have not been on for a few days has anyone followed this up at all yet ?
  19. Morning baby , i can't wait to see it all , i will get on to Harry and see what he is doing and when we are comming to see you and birds . You have made a great job single handed as well as multi tasking everything else . see you soon. Have a good day

  21. Have Fab time , enjoy every moment ................ Maybe he felt guilty given you a hard time for making yourself a loft !
  22. I have posted the whole story from the SOS .I have not posted it onto other sites i will leave that for the more experienced fanciers .I am a novice but i am interested in the welfare of the pigeons .After reading this i thought it an idea to let others see that one man is also trying to help . As i said it is now up to everyone else to get behind him and do something to help everyone .I am sure if you get intouch with the Game and wildlife Conservation Trust they will give you a number they have a web site so you can check it out there or leave a message for him . Good Luck to you all who will support him and do something ,i know i will try . Avril
  23. Conservationist urges cull on birds of prey « Previous « PreviousNext » Next »View GalleryPublished Date: 11 October 2009 By Jenny Fyall Environment Correspondent LIMITS should be placed on the growing number of birds of prey in Scotland to protect the interests of landowners, according to the outgoing head of a leading conservation charity. Ian McCall, director of the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust, has warned that if legal means are not provided to help farmers, grouse-moor owners and pigeon fanciers to control birds of prey, they would be forced to take the law into their own haADVERTISEMENTnds. McCall's comments will inflame the debate between those who support controlling bird of prey numbers – which have exploded over the past decade – and those who believe they should be allowed to flourish without interference. Among the species that have increased following government protection of their status are buzzards and sparrowhawks, which prey on other birds. Although landowners can get licences to shoot birds of prey in certain circumstances, one has never been granted to protect grouse or pigeons. "We have got to decide how many (raptors] we want because infinity is unacceptable," McCall said. "There should be target populations and when we exceed them then we may need to control them." McCall, head of the trust which carries out scientific research on wildlife conservation, said sparrowhawk and buzzard populations were no longer under threat. He argued that the Scottish Government should grant licences to allow raptors to be killed if they were causing problems that were having an impact on livelihoods. "We need to recognise that if there are too many of any species then one needs to offer people who have got a serious problem a way out," he said. "If you see your lambs being killed every day by raptors, and it's your livelihood and you can't do anything about it then you think, 'Christ I have to take the law into my own hands,'" he said. "We want to find a compromise solution where people can manage land for wildlife conservation and agriculture and tourism without having to break the law."
  24. Yesterdays Scotland on Sunday Oct 11TH PAGE 8 has an article of news .It may be of some help to pigeon fanciers to contact IAN MC CALL .He is the director of Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust . In the paper he is saying there should be a cull on some BOP to protect pigeon fanciers and farmers . These birds are protected from the government and we do not have control over the numbers of birds breeding wild and if it continues people will take it into there own hands and do what they must .Ian Mc Call is calling for support to determine the numbers of BOP and if the numbers grow then something should be done about killing them .On this forum a few weeks ago it was talked about doing something . Read yesterdays SOS and if Ian Mc Call is needing support and proof about the damage that BOP are doing to the pigeon sport it is now up to you all to get behind this man and do something instead of just talking . Now is your chance to be heard one man has got coverage it is up to others to get intouch with him with your support and stories of BOP ripping your birds appart ,killing them and the damage they are doing . I have posted this in the hope that it will infact be helpfull to you all . Avril
