Thank you Owen and everyone else who has PM me i have answerd just a short note but i will be more active over the weekend and get something sorted out .I have a commitee meeting about my district tonight and planning etc in the carse of gowrie we also have a web site ,i might see what it says about BOP and post something on it also once i get something moving ,I am determined to do something for you all the novice that i am ,but i will need the knowledge of more experience people ,the backing of others to be able to understand what we need to put forward . Rome wasnt built in a day ,one step is a step in the right direction with a positive attitude .

Good afternoon ,all ...........Oh my god what a responce thankyou to all ,but you are all arguing again and it must STOP NOW!I have just logged on i have not had time to look at all the PM'S but i will do it now as i have to go out again and wont be back until tomorrow night .I suggested something ,i asked for a responce and support to it ,I will look into the other sites that oldyellow says already exists but i wonder why everyone doesnt already know anout it and support it .Leave it with me i will get back to all PM'S and if there is enough support we can maybe get a meeting set up to get something started and ongoing .Please no fighting we are all concerned about the same things and if some of us want to work together good if the rest want to critisise what we are trying to achieve for everyone so be it .My apologies if i left anyones names off the list at the start of the post ,but if you want to help PM me and we can see what we can get done . All week we have all been talking about the BOP and RSPB i am right in saying this .Anyone who has an opinion is shot down for various reasons being outspoken and i am going to name a few here like Rembrant2coo -Harry .Clocky -George, Dovecote -Duncan ,Jimmy White , Joe Murphy ,Gerald McPherson ,and possibly myself Willow -Avril get crucified .or we are not very liked in the sport .Now all of the above for one reason or another don't talk to each other but they like to get a point across and get heard .So what i am suggesting here might actualy get something done but it won't happen over night .And if everyone pulled together and spoke and acted collectively we could .not we can't ...........I can be the go between as im nutural to you all ............. BOP .......i am suggesting that we set up a new website regarding the BOP and what they are doing to the bird population and making it available to everyone to see and support not just fanciers ,it will then be compitition for the RSPB ,they can come on and see what is being said , it can have its own members and support and make it more wide spread .Let everyone see pictures of the damage they are doing and the support it will gather .We can get MP'S onboard and all over the country member can have there say without it being a thread which gets closed .It would have to have comittee members from different parts of the country to represent there area and they could collect information within that area to put on the web site and then collectively have evidence to support what the BOP are doing by not being culled and reintroduced to areas where they are doing greatest damage . I am not going to be able to do this myself Oldyellow and others will have to be involved as well as the above .We have to find someone to set up the web site have a few meetings with them and go from there . We could have some suggestions and a big meeting to establish what to do and who can help and give there time .If we need funds well i am sure we can raise them by having dances ,selling birds as we do for other charities on here . If we can get all the other fancier's sites involved also we could have a tremedous membership and then we can do something about this problem within the sport and garden birds also . It is a start if in 10 years time there is no sport who then will we blame or throw stones at for not doing anything .Be positive if anyone else has a better idea everyone would like to hear .This is mine it might be way off but then again it might just take off .Willow -Avril you can email me on . avrildouglas@aol.com

A good idea , it is a start .I work full time and don't have so much spare time but i am willing to do what i can ,so put me down on the list for helping with whoever else .Positive thinking now!

We can get more than 21.500 signatures ,if we do it properly and get support from friends as well as facniers putting an argument across to cull them as they are killing not only pigeons .People still think of pigeons as flying rats so that is why others wont think anything of it if they are getting killed ,so you have to also tell them what other birds are being killed off as well as pigeons!Name all the birds that are effected and are in decline not just pigeons .so we have to speak up for all the bird not just pigeons or you won't get the supposrt . The rspb only mention bop that is why they get the support they dont say bop are killing your garden birds or they wouldnt get the support they are telling the people only what they want to hear .Positive thinking here is now needed not for us to be negative people's .

Morning , ok what do you all suggest we do , i have heard bigda mention a pigeon day ,any more suggestions , we should look at them all and do something for all the diff birds and get others also involved not just fanciers , TV , Radio , i know someone in Radio who might help .

Morning again the same story BOP , we can all manage to raise a lot of money for a charity on here and all pull together for a cause , but somehow can't all get together to do something about BOP . The SHU tried 10 years ago to get pigeons status changed to livestock so that fanciers could protect their birds legaly by killing them if they were attacking their birds livestock .I am still reading up on Parlimentary issues on this subject and will keep at it as i said already last night i will do what i can to help but i can't do it single handed . We should all join together to do something and form a club to identify the elusive BOP sites in the country . It will only get changed with action from fanciers wanting to get rid of the BOP and making people aware of what they are doing to all birds .

Yes i agree with Bakes practcal help is the best and patience in learning about the diff birds and how they work together , and also the diseases they can get and how diff people treat them .There are loads of diff types of birds and distances , that can 'tbe learnt not from a text book.All fanciers have different ways of breeding and teaching their birds , once you have the basics you add to what you have by observing and listening and asking everyone you know and improving the knowledge you have gained with keeping good birds and then helping others in time , making friends also with new people within the sport .

If you can find a good mentor to explain the art of keeping birds it can be better than a lot of books , i am a novice and i have some books , but there is nothing better than someone helping you to understand what the books are saying as well as showing you the birds and how to handle them and look after them .Practical work is the key and to see as many people as possible and to listen to their knowledge of the sport . I haven't seen fancy birds like these ,they are beautiful ,i know this may be a stupid question ,but do they also fly? or are they just for show ? Willow

My opinion is all the birds back from a big race are all winners .ok ,ok , but some birds and this is what i can't get my head around being a novice is that they all start off at the same point but many birds have to travel a lot longer than others and maybe the first part of the race will be better as say the weather is good and the nearer birds will make a better time , then the rest of the race for the other birds back to there loft might be bad so making them slower so they have no hope of winning . It is the only sport i know of that the competitors all start at the same point but finish in different places and some fly shorter and some fly longer distances but all are in the same race . Crazy for the winning bird . How many birds have won a big race from the highlands say? is there any or are all the winners from the same area? It would be interesting to know .

morning , yes i want blue bar's stb as i like that colour of bird ,and they blend in fine when racing as they dont stand out from the crowd for BOP .I need to start looking soon .If i want to train them and get used to them before the season starts .Have a good day , im off to my work . Willow

Stb , im not sure what you mean , im not up to this fancy talk yet.Harry will help me but i want 2 hen's from 2 diff lofts good stock blue bar squeekers , i think thats right , distance birds.However if they win he can breed with them if he wanted to ,then i will get another 2 for the next year as i dont like the babies i can't touch them ,or i would race the same 2 again the next year , I am being optimistic here hoping they will come back and not get lost or eaten by a BOP . He will give me bird but they would still be his birds that is why i cant take them . He will help me with 2 birds i get and they will be my birds .There is nothing wrong with him or his birds .So i must do it myself from the start and then he will mentor me in the art of racing ..............not painting !
