  11. I like eye sign not every pigeon that breeds winners is a performance pigeon on the road in my opinion. I remember a pigeon I bought in many years ago I called him Eighty Three all his brothers and sisters were multiple winners. The fellow I bought Eighty Three from said that he had collected him from three different lofts after training and that he struggled to home from 3 miles. Eighty Three was destine for the loft in the sky. Until I looked at what I thought was a cracking eye. Eighty Three rewarded me a host of winners with birdage over 5,000 birds. I'm not stupid enough to say that eyesign is the ‘b’all and end all. but I enjoy it and why not if it floats my boat

  20. Owen The body of this transporter has been used for many years in the Essex area and the losses have never been out of the ordinary I never raced much this year and never raced a youngbird so i can't really comment on my own racing in 2013. However I do know two fanciers that did race on this transporter in 2013. one being my nephew the other being Terry McCarthy both these fanciers work their birds hard my nephew started with around 40 youngbirds and ended the season with around 36 Terry McCarthy not 100% what youngbirds he started with but was sending 50 plus birds towards the end. So maybe its not transporters like this that are not fit for purpose. Maybe it's the birds that fanciers put in the crates. Regards Bernie

    Old Birds

Still got my old 96 bred Essex combine winner
  23. Bill many years ago i had a team of pigeon's that would win at 2000 yds a minute down to 800yds a minutes, and in some cases these were the same pigeon's if at anytime i was in doubt that they would not perform they were rested. Even when i was in the running for the coverted London NR Combine Tommy Long cup. Only one pigeon was good enough to go to Thurso in my opinion and only one went (IF IN DOUBT LEAVE OUT). Did i win the Tommy Long NO i was third which is not reconised. However my lone entry did finish in the top 100 against over 4,500 birds giving me a good race. If pigeon racing was as easy as going to a loft a getting a family of pigeons i would be back at the top of my game again instead i'm breeding the waiting game in the hope i can be in top gear in the next two years. and believe me they will be expected to compete week in week out what ever the velolicty.
  24. Bill How many races are we talking about? Fit pigeons will have no problem week in week out at the veloicity you speak about and even if a few do show a few sign's of ware and tare a weeks rest will put them back in good order. Motivation and feeding are the key.
  25. well done Harky
