  1. It appears that fresh grit and minerals every day has either been replaced by other feeds such as matrix ( I use that and should have mentioned ) or is just not that important?
  2. Don't think there is any specific reason to it mik just the way it's done here lol.I suppose I would like to think control of what they ate...not letting them gorge on any one thing. nothing hard and fast in this game and others will think it's mental but nobody takes any harm from it
  3. Best of luck Wullie
  4. no for me mate. grit twice a month if yer lucky lol and drinkers on hopper thru winter tho diffo maybe in racing
  5. I will start No black minerals to racers only grit. Grit and minerals only at certain times of year. Pick stones randomly thru year (racing)
  6. Now that's the kind of basket training that's priceless lol
  7. Twice maybe thrice in memory have I basket trained and not for 10+ years.....Mick, need two transporter for first couple of races but after that fair enuff. Driver/convoyer would need to be educated on the FEEDING of a half full crate
  8. Yip yer a bit behind especially on a fast day. I am sticking to the same answer of system and lighter feed. The birds flying well round the loft and the training should see you pretty close so thats my best guess......if not wrong tackle for the job. Best of luck mate I am saying no more lol. Whatever happens ENJOY the birds.
  9. Now then, how far are you behind velocity wise? how many miles shorter than the dominant fancier?
  10. Just trying to point out that ye don't know who he is flying against........national winning location got heehaw tae do wae it its club racing was just using that to illustrate that the man might be up against tough opposition. Bet his fookin heeds pickled
  11. Ye we have a member in our club that turns up and wins short stuff with his natural team on occasion. Its easier to have yer best away every week on widowhood or its like. Buster might be in a club like mine where it's very competitive and a few of the fanciers always take cards but never get right up at the short stuff. That all changes when distance comes in . These are national winners and experienced fanciers so might not be much wrong with Buster151' method just good fanciers and a wee tweek here and there
  12. Them two wudnae raise their heed tae a cat lol
  13. Much the same as mine on the front?
  14. I have louvres on the bottom and perspex on top no overhang faces due south into the south west prevailing wind. When its really heavy rain blowing south west I get it coming thru the bottom louvres but it has to be HEAVY........please bare in mind that this loft was built by a brickie and a TV engineer and started off 8ft wide.......the height off the ground is key imo
  15. Dampness. ......get rid of that problem ASAP. ....rest might follow easier than you think. Natural birds flying an hour at a time when exercised at home???.....wow...I should be asking you lol. Not a lot wrong there with the fettle of the birds. Training?......that's about twice as much as I would train and certainly plenty with midweek? Conclusion? Change to widowhood/jealous/celibate you choose and see what happens. Get the dampness problem Sorted. .....after that it's mostly good birds and dedication. Best of luck
  16. Thought you said they had the choice Ryan bit that dusnae matter many roads mate
  17. Trapping the hens back on the cocks end is roundabout but the rest? ??. I think that's why I concentrate with cocks, celibate or not cos it easy
  18. Your system is, in my mind, a roundabout system with your adaptations? It works so don't change or always look for an advantage?
  19. More of a true widow end for your hens but not a traditional way to race /feed your cocks I would guess? Many roads lead to Rome and get it right it's dynamite?
  20. I have always wondered as my hens are fed in the trough but cocks in boxs individual. I tried roundabout and although won it was much more hassle. Have looked at hen box's but our old loft can't take a lot of Change lol. Cocks always beat hens in my loft.....sometimes a hen but only at the distance? Opinions?
  21. Feed the hens the same Ryan?
  22. Hens? Is that hens celibate, widow or nat? Is there a system for hens? I like a hen at 500 mile but mostly natural have scored before with widow hens just shows different ways I suppose
