Brother to sister is not that close. Consider the number of genes carried on each chromosome and the number of chromosomes within a pigeon. If you are into maths, the possible variations are many. The mating is fairly neutral considering no real gain is to be made from it. This pairing carried out down through the filial generations is a different matter, but we are talking about a one off, even though it may be within a family line.

Charlie, I had a full brother / sister mating last year and all 3 rounds were ok, whereas about 5 years ago I had a cross pairing where 1 chick only had half a wing. To me this, alongside the breeding knowledge acquired after 25 years dog breeding, shows that sports can arrive from any mating.

Perhaps just too nice a guy to manage. A manager has to be able to look at the overall picture and has to be able to switch on the hair-drier sometimes.

Derek Hay, Andy Eadie, Tam Richardson all flew well in Lanarkshire by all accounts. Robert Reid, streets ahead in Ayrshire. Geddes and Hillis in Glasgow had a super National result. That is my knowledge wiped out excepting the likes of Jim Donaldson Peterhead, Davy Jamieson from Calder, the Elphinstone fanciers, Peter Virtue and the top South Lanarkshire fanciers are always thereabouts at the Nationals.
