Matthew, if you do get late-breds, then be careful with them. Treat them like YB's. Don't race them too far are keep a close eye on their feathering. They could throw three flights in the one week, for instance. Their feathers do not stand up to wet weather as well as older pigeons and they wear out. Hold them up to the light and watch for small holes, etc as the feathers deteriorate. After they have had a moult and have the experience of the careful racing, they will make good two year olds.
