  1. Some old begger might not be able to afford it whilst all others can, a double whammy for the old begger, but who cares ah!!!!!!!!!
  2. Roundo could you tell us the average cost per loft and the cost of the club unit. Thanks
  3. Nice DRIES looks idyllic.
  4. Jack Yes respect should be given to others that may have different views than our own and expect likewise in return. Anything that challenges the norm and gets the old grey matter working to me cant be a bad thing. Eyesign real or fake? I haven’t got a clue, never studied it, read about it yes but not enough to come to a conclusion either way. I’ll carry on reading about it as I do with everything else that pertains to pigeons with an open mind. No one knows it all but if we share we’ll all be that bit wiser. Cheers
  5. Hi Jack, Is this all the credit you can offer to good fanciers that dont follow the eye sign theory ?

    SPEIGHT

Speight, glad to see ya back on the firm.
  8. Carol its a high energy drink.
  9. A high/buzz is followed by low/downer, just as day follows night. Get your timing wrong zzzzzzzzz
  10. Scenario. The top flyers in my club have ETS, I not to give them an advantage get the system installed. I win a race beating a pensioner by a decimal, he/she cant afford the ETS he/she times in on a conventional clock. That to me would devalue the win big time, any race I win I want it to be down to merit and merit alone. The pensioner ? he/she has every right to be felt cheated out of a win. To me here lays the problem. Selfish ?
  11. The cost of ETS may have influenced more than the odd one or two to vote against it. http://www.cbspigeon.com/supplies/unikon/index.html
  12. My opinion. Q. Is the ETS a good timimg system A. Yes Q.Would it be of benifit to the fancy as a whole A.No
  13. Diamond dave, you know what neighbours are like, once the gossip mongers get going that'll be your pigeon found. Your in a position that none of us would like to be in and to be honest I couldn't tell you one way or the other what I would do. I would say that goes for everyone else. Bravado says stick it in the bin, common sense says report it. You just do what you think is right. Good luck.
  14. sbelbin, Regucol, whats the dosage ?
  15. A good article written by Gordon Chalmers. This should answer your questions. http://www.pigeonjournal.com/content/view/23/26/

    Pigeon Poems

Here's one westy, credit for this must be given to someone else though. Its a slant on a poem called 'If' by Rudyard Kipling IF you can leave a warm and cosy fireside, When winter winds, nigh chill you to the bone, To feed and scrape at morning, night or noontide, Yet utter not a grumble or a groan. IF you can stand for hours with teeth a chatter, When parted hens decide that they will roam. And smiling, say, "It doesn't really matter, I only hope that they will all come home". IF you can scan the skies in dreary weather, And do not feel downhearted when you say, It's dark now, and I haven't got a feather, Yet you know that there are several on the day. IF you can spare a handful for a stray one, And room at night to rest its weary frame. Count not the cost of what it eats, begrudge none, But hope someone will treat yours just the same IF you can lend a hand, when hand is needed, And with your clubmates, you can take your turn, So, marking, clocking, checking can be speeded, And each and every job you thus will learn. IF you can join the throng at payout dinner, And laugh and joke and join in all the fun, And really mean it when you clap each winner, Yet know fulwell that you have nowt to come. IF in this way you see yourself reflected, And all these things you have already done. A pigeon fancier there can be detected, And what is more, A GOOD ONE TOO MY SON.

    SPEIGHT

Keep your pecker up son. (Being pampered by nurses in uniforms helps )
  18. Welcome aboard Chris Looking forward to more words of wisdom
  19. Looking at photo's of continental fanciers they seem to wear loft coats more so than us in the UK. Can you see the merits in wearing one. Do you wear one or not ? Be interesting to hear your views.
  20. snowy its hard for a good avian vet to tell you if your pigeon has paratyphoid or not, sometimes needing to test the pigeons droppings 3 times to come to a correct diagnosis. Posters on here can only suggest what your problem may be, that's all. My issue with this thread is that by using garlic you could give youself a false sense of security if you believe its a preventative against virus's, its not. Be forever on your guard and take nothing for granted.
  21. Yes bruno it has been proved effective against many things, but at what dose?
  22. Sorry Bruno I have to disagree with you in part. I would never take for granted that because one uses garlic you can disregard cocci, bacterial or viral diseases as a possible cause for an ailing pigeon. Garlic is good, but a preventative against all ?
  23. If you were to pass on some sound advise to a new starter, what would it be ?

    Racing Begins

I feel pigeonjock has made a very good point regarding yearlings. With the threat of our race programs getting disrupted I fear some fanciers will race them at every opportunity just to get some mileage under their belts. I'm going to wrap mine in cotton wool, y/b racing could end up a no go this year, lose your yearlings this year and in 2007 your old bird team could end up having no 2 yearolds in and the possibly of unraced yearlings. Better be safe than sorry.
  25. I had no idea you was thinking about putting ME in it :'(
