  10. Whilst fishing have actually seen pigeons land in the middle of the lake, take a drink then up on their way again.
  11. I open clocks at club/fed/combines and have come across instances where the winning pigeons rubber had being caked in mud so yes in some instances it must have happened at liberation. I remember years ago an old fancier in my club commenting on he's pigeons going down for a drink, he would say yeah! this pigeon went down at Lincoln (for example) he reckoned he could tell what part of the country it went down by the colour of the mud/clay on the pigeons feet. Bull$hit or not?
  12. A fishing rod, reel, line & tennis ball.

  15. I feed till they start leaving the barley. The only exception to this is on day of return from a race when they're fed around 3/4 oz each.
  16. West Essex Fed 7:15 out of Retford into a w/s/w
  17. If its bare wood you intend painting.......... leave it bare! it allows the wood to breath = less condensation.
  18. Saturday race pigeons, watch the golf & cricket. Sunday train babies, watch golf & F1 So in other words other than pigeons I plan to do FA
  19. I would be inclined to lay a new floor over the existing one. Both Jeyes & Virkon S will do the job. If you go with Jeyes I've found using a paintbrush to apply best.

    Plodders

Racing widowhood I dont think they become plodders............... I think they just get wise to the game. They say the best widowhood cocks are those that never truly suss the system, these go on to 5-6 years of age if your very lucky.
  24. Yes, I wouldn't have a loft full but a few that I could depend on. Many times I've sat waiting for pigeons on a hard day wishing I still had a few of them hardy types representing me. I used to house them but like most they made way for today's faster pigeons and in hindsight I wish I kept a few pair back. Horses for courses come to mind.
  25. Yes. IMO the modern day pigeon is faster but lacks the constitution of the 'yesteryear' pigeons.
