This is a great book for any fancier,I got mine from the pigeonbasics stand at Blackpool a couple of years ago, and still read it many times, and have permission to post some of the many useful tips from it, for the benefit of site members and any interested fancier can go to the editors website http://www.pigeonbooks.com TIP/1 After long races, more amino acids and proteins should be fed than after short races. TIP/2 A long race also represents a significant loss of salts and vitamins. If after a long race you give only water,it can cause "water poisoning".

I think they eat what BOP leave lying about, like the crows, although the crows can get the pigeons themselves,(carrion crows)

just took my 17 young birds for a toss as hopefully they will get their first race this week, they have been over the water and had a few tosses, so took them to Burntisland just this side of the FORTH, looked around and the sky was klear, so up they went, watched them circle around for a while the knocking along came about 60 or more birds heading for the Forth going south, mine were still circling but the big batch swerved round and all joined up, so whatched them for a while, some trying to break away now and then but all went south, so hopefully I get some back, this is in my opinion the biggest reason for losses, clashing, too many birds in the sky, and young birds follow others, :emoticon-0179-headbang: if mine come it will have been good training, this was about 10-50 at Burnisland/ just a thought, who would be tossing from North of the Forth going South
