Hi Lee, I have just purchased one of norbans 10kg tucker bags, it has been in the loft about a week, the birds use it fine & up to now no waste, I have ordered some more --- just a suggestion !. www.norban.co.uk
I have always thought my birds were pretty good to get them from Lerwick to south east kent 614miles but when you boys on the Shetlands get them home from mainland uk to your little island out in the hostile north sea & sometimes from Morpeth its absolutely amazing, when you say you liberate your trainers from boats at sea even more amazing, what a challenge !!!.
Hello Mikkey, Surely the best thing to have done was feed, water & liberate the bird away from your own BEFORE trying to find the owner !. If it didnt clear then try & find the owner. Just my thoughts of course.
Fanciers have for years timed birds after picking them up off the EXTERNAL landing board & then clocking them BEFORE they have entered the confines of the loft ----- if thats ok then surely the trap in the photo is too.
Talk about splitting hairs !!!. What about if your loft is 100ft long -- two distances ? I dont think so 1. Do we know which end of the car park they are measured from & which end they are liberated from. What side of the lorry are yours ?. Pigeon racing gone mad I think, does it really matter, I suppose it might for the sprinters so it will be a long time before it matters to me.!
My ex partner Bill Fright of Margate (deceased) was a pal of Wallies they used to talk about Kirkpatricks & Arthur Hills of St.Just, Arthur had a grizzle cock from Bill which figured in several of Arthurs pedigrees. The last dealings we had with Wally (East End) was to purchase some Lavern Schumann (if thats how you spell it ! ) birds, little velvets & dark chequers from the states.
