there has been mention of half of our national race from bovingdon is missing, and that is from an entry of five thousand five hundred birds, where is all these birds as very few seem to get reported, where are they all, are the fields from scotland down to england covered in the carcasses of our birds with all the smashes the high and low flying, theory goes out of the window when there is no wind,a recipe for disaster, as our last no wind at race point ended in a lot of empty perches,i think we all have to get together and address this problem before our great sport becomes a minority sport
-
hi my english partners in sport, you see the losses that we in lanarkshire are experiencing, our national race from bovingdon was a bit of a disaster for a lot of flyers, with very few lucky flyers all home, how is your returns from the north, have you a lot of empty perches down there

with all the gaps in the times of the lanarkshire birds over the last couple of weeks, i decided to send twenty five birds to bovingdon, with the hope that we will get a truer race with the national, i just hope im right, and the very best of luck to all taking part

i keep my feeding down all winter i do not split my birds they are together all year ,but the amount of down that is on my roof tiles has been commented on as winter form,i do not support this theory i think the birds are just showing there well being
-
what is your opinion on winter form,is this a myth or is it fact if you are not feeding for this how does it occur,or is your birds peaking now, never to be repeated during the racing season, good or bad your opinion please

i,m shure i had a busschaert twenty years ago,and it was by parkside superman, and superwoman, and firefly a triple crown winner
-
nardini vets in wishaw got me a supply last year she got a litre so she should have some left
-
the snfc transport the birds in 7.5 ton lorrys why does the lanarkshire fed use artics 7.5 ton lorrys cost a lot less to run how heavy is a lorry load of doos i think artcs is overkill and i am sure we could get some drivers to drive them free
-
for someone who has never kept pigeons you sure bought a lot of birds from him as you previously said you are not a truthful man
-
used to split a bag between us but beware they dont keep for more than a season and you dont give the birds a lot just the week before the big ask
-
looks like a lot of potassium permanganate in there
-
when you feed sunflower hearts you should be very carefull as these can put the weight on very quickly use them sparingly and only when the birds are racing remember a lot of seasons are lost by overweight birds in the winter i would never use any oily seeds in the winter it is easy to put the weight on but hard to take off plus the internal fat that you cannot see

the best sugestion i have heard, seperate liberations or just a west coast national then we can get some real racing from sartilly, tours and the real national racing we got twenty years ago instead of going farther and farther east to suit the east coast fanciers it was not that long ago that to win a national in the east was thought to be a miracle now it has turned full circle and we are now in that position
-
many a bird that has been lost has been lifted by the longer races these birds heading north west were probably lifted by these birds bet it put a smile on many a fanciers face getting back an old favourate that they thought was lost
-
i have see liberations before and the bottom ones get knocked to the ground a liberation at sea might mean a disaster for the bottom ones
-
the absolute truth of the matter is that someone in edinburgh is flying the same miles as me in motherwell but my birds will come up the east coast with the rest of the birds and then cut across with the wind in there faces another fifty miles same distance i dont think so west coast doos are tough birds thay have to be watching the other birds dropping into there lofts and they have another hour and a half to go
-
happy new year to all, and i hope that every body gets a turn in the season to come, good health to yous, and your birds and no disasters, all the best and my birds are, and always have been, given, not bought, with pride i hope i last another twenty five years
-
and a happy new year from my twenty six old birds AND my fifty now yearlings
-
i am just on the computer and read 'this i do not lie about pigeons, i have no reason to, i have twenty six old birds to fly, some of them may not fly as they are good breeders, in total i have seventy six birds in my loft mostly yearlings as i only go to one young bird race all my yearlings go to the longest inland race the ones that are left at the end are worth keeping
