    Amtrak

I was talking to the guy who has the local area round here and he was telling me of a case recently where one had been crushed by a wheel packed incorectly in the same cage as a pigeon, needless to say the pigeon arrived dead at his depot, I asked if they would pay compensation and he said that the birds are sent at the owners own risk, although this one was witnessed by some Amtrack offical who took pic's to get it looked into, he said they probably would compensate in that case as it was their fault, which seems to be their fault in your case also, £50 max I'm led to believe if your lucky so doubt that will soften the blow too much, but good luck all the same although it wont do the poor birds any good and that is the sad bit.
  10. Should be mature enough at that age, I had 6 very late breds to try this year, only 6 weeks old approx when I collected them in October and although they wernt paired for the first round they were put out in a covered aviary with pipo boxes and they bred quite happily and well from mid February cold winds and all! I would check the health situation if they were mine something has to be wrong there.
  11. Had 42 to start with lost 7 racing and training, sold some and still have 24, although only 14 of the original batch were cocks and we race widowhood cocks only from yearlings onwards. Still have 9 of the cocks after being broken to a new loft and location as yearlings but have been pretty consistant, they get sent every week and in that time have picked up about 18 cards for us.

  13. Top notch job that looks very nice indeed
  14. Yes its easy when you know your birds. When you really get to know them you can tell which one will be first home before you send them! Oh the lovely Nom and Pool money!! lol
  15. Lol it takes all sorts to make the World go Round even if it is FLAT hahaha. I seem to remember a conversation that GPS wasnt used as it wasnt acurate to within 5 metres or something like? but having read the post above where some chap was 900yds out it still has to be a vast improvement so maybe CASTLEVIEW has a very good point there. Google maps are great (satalite) as you can find the exact distances from your training points in a staight line, try it and I bet you will see a difference from using a normal map and much easier!
  16. Try telling that to the Flat Earth society you NON believer!
  17. A faithfull servant that was for sure!
  18. Some nice birds there I have to say, well reared
  19. Square peg stuck in a round hole then lol
  20. Well I have to go with all of the above as each one has an effect with different people, ETS, although shouted about the loudest is probably the lesser threat to the sport as I dont know of anyone that has left the game over it so far where as many have packed in through the hawk problem, some over the lack of distance racing and only time will tell if they ever come back if/when the bans are lifted, cats when combined with neighbours have caused some to leave the sport, others have left through so called infighting and the politics of it all and to cap it off the price of pigeons is so great that new starters or people wanting to come into the sport are put off before even entering our ranks, I know some people who have helped others to get going, I even enjoy helping others myself but those small gestures will never save the sport on their own and now what makes it worse are corn prices, that is the one that may put an end to my pigeon racing, it is nearly at the ceiling of what I can afford to pay each week and I know others, more well off than myself, that are thinking the same. Pigeon racing like many other things is sure having a rocky ride at the moment!
