  1. do everything you can to stop them getting in, they carry disease on there feet, cover up with half inch mesh, at this time of year they will be on the lookout for small feathers to build with.
  2. not if you breed them early enough.
  3. once a day is ample at the moment while on the dark ,less stress, plus they exercise better.
  4. just let the treatment run its course mate, everything takes time, hope everthing turns out alright for you,got to have eyes in the back of your head with pigeons.
  5. micko, easy way is feed in front all day,but the best way is feed 3 or 4 times a day, this way they eat whats in front of them instead of scattering the food about.
  6. sound advice that mate, dont bother with darkness this year, get youself a team built up for next year give your young birds maybe 3 or 4 races, stop what you like and race the rest for fun, next year put young on darkness it will give you more time to learn about the system.
  7. sounds like there hungry mate, i give mine quarter once red band morning and as much as they can eat, high protein y/bird no maze 2.45pm after they come in,this way they grow well and exercise well.
  8. send her mate, i know people who send to races in between eggs and win,

  17. joe, have a look on the sides of your perches or nest boxes in the morning to see if there is any yellow discharge, sure indication of respitory or watch the birds beaks to see if they are slightly oponing ie gapping, hope this helps.

    SATURDAYS RACE

hotrod, your right what your saying mate, horses for courses, the statement i was making was your good birds will come to the front,i got the impression people were saying anything can win a fast race,ie (fantail race) i myself had 45 birds away, in our club you pool 3 birds,my 1st was an all pooler as was my 3rd winning all pools out of 484 birds sent by club members, ps this bird also won the first race.

doesnt matter if blow home or on the nose good birds always come to the front.
  23. just another theory mate,if we beleived everything we read and hear we would be killing just about every thing in the loft.
  24. even better get smoke bombs for pigeons, the ones where you dont have to take the birds out of the loft.
  25. nonsense, try to get shot of them mate, they do damage the birds feathers they eat the ends of the flights,i used to be botherd a lot with them till i got rid of all the privet dyke surounding my lofts,go to any hardware shop and get youself some moth balls.
