  1. hi north road racer, could you not let them out any sooner than 5 pm as i think this is your problem mate because you probably feed them after 6 pm, meaning they will probably still have some food in there crops in the morning mate,if you cant get them out any sooner i would feed them 1 and half ounce each, 20 birds =30 ounce.
  2. years ago if any was missing on day there would be birds waiting to be let in sun morning, now your lucky to see any at all, still waiting of 2 but not much hope, they had all day yesterday to get home from an 6 o clock lib.

    managed 3rd club today,looks like the two birds in club in front of me could be 1st and 2nd cumbria combine, 1st and 2nd two feds amal and 1st and 2nd derwent valley fed, keep my fingers crossed, well done laurence, geordie and bill and george weaver, top flying lads.
  4. 12 back out of 16 cumbria combine portsmouth 289 mls, big gaps between the birds today, clocked at 16 mins past 11.00, best time in our club 8 mins past 11.00, birds very thirsty on return must be the heat and the eastly winds.

  6. used to think that myself a few year ago but still got caught out on a couple of ocassions, now im at my loft in time for 70 mls per hour with east in the wind, better to be safe than sorry.

  15. we can hardly get old birds back from 500 mls up here in cumbria never mind youngsters ;D
  16. 1st,4th,24 fed, 1st,5th,34th two feds cumbria amal, poor returns throughout both federations, lost 6 out of 29 myself one a 05 hen which was 5th fed nantes last year, one 3 year old cock and 4 yearling hens, thats 2 weeks on the trot we have had very bad returns up here in cumbria :-/

  20. 47 to race, all will go the full program this year 201mls, stopped them last couple of years at 100mls, but first testing race as yearlings and they struggle so this year, no mercy, they will have to go all being well.

  22. derwent valley fed basketed as usual for cheltenham 201 mls, cant be any worser than last week, hope not anyway fingers crossed.

  24. let them rest mate, then if o.k they will let you know by clapping about, sometimes you can over do it with exercise & training, let them do the flying on race days, wouldnt even think about training in the winds weve had last few days, (rests the best tonic)
  25. never been trained after ist race mate, why take the chance of hawk attacks during the week they have enough to put up with on race day,try flying through the cumbrian fells and you will know what i mean.
